Good morning friends! Our very first volunteer staff party is on Saturday, September 19th, we're looking for a handful of Portland friends who would want to help volunteer serve & clean that evening.

Our volunteer staff does SO much, and we want to make sure they are seen and cared for this evening.

In a quiet corner in Portland, OR, sits our small coffee shop.

It's maybe 500 square feet, with all the typical quirks that come with an old garage that's been converted into a coffee house. There's a creak here, a drip there, walls and floors that have seen it's fair share of crayons and coffee spills. Our door has never worked properly, and there's a small leak in the roof.

But on any given morning, you'll find someone hunched over a laptop in the corner, deep in whatever world they're building, and right beside them, someone sitting down to a hot breakfast they couldn't have afforded. There are dogs, there are laughs, there are children playing in our yard.

And of course, there is always Neil, our favorite war vet that comes in everyday right at 8am.

Somewhere between the hum of our espresso machine and the sounds of first dates, Zoom calls, free breakfast, and whatever "psychedelic western ambient" music Susan decides to put on the speakers, the place starts to feel less like a coffee shop and more like something from a TV show.

It's kinda like Luke's Diner, but in real life (Yes I'm a Gilmore Girls fan I don't want to hear it).

Moments like that is when we hear people say, "this place is magical."

And who creates that magic? It's our volunteer baristas, the folks who donate to keep our community fed, and our everyday customers that make it magical.

All we did was open the door, and let people in. It's YOU who have made this place magical.
