“I am studying to be a therapist and currently focusing on psychology and gender studies at the University of Portland. I love coffee very much, and I plan to work as a barista through graduate school! I am also very passionate about music, and I released an album this past summer!
My interest in social justice began in middle school. I remember learning about human trafficking, and I was inspired to write music about the issue, and I collected donations through music for two organizations in Cambodia. My interest in coffee began in high school. I love the social environment of a coffee shop and how it brings people together, and of course, I can’t go a day without my morning cup of coffee. When I found Ardent, I immediately was interested in becoming a part of the team!
I hope to expand my barista skills, create relationships, brighten people’s day through smiles and good coffee, and contribute to the mission of the IJM.
One of the founders Joe always says that Ardent is about making change through daily rhythms. Something like a cup of coffee can be used to make positive change. I hope that customers will recognize how much they can make a difference through their own daily rhythms!
My highlight has definitely been the relationships I have formed! When I first began volunteering at Ardent, I was surprised by how open and honest the Ardent community is. When I ask customers how their day is, I am often surprised by their detailed answers, but I am so appreciative of their honesty because it has lead to connections with wonderful people who I look forward to seeing every shift!”
