After a career as a nursing sister and a long standing passion for cooking and baking Janet Sawkins founded Madeleines. In 2003 she began training and lecturing at the school. She has always had a passion to excel in her chosen path. So after Madeleines opened 14 years ago (which she ran from home) she has successfully opened her first bakery in 2014, which also encompasses a restaurant. Currently

This week’s special has been chosen by Janet, the founder and owner of Madeleines, and we definitely saved the best for last!

Janet has always loved bringing people together, and for her, there’s nothing better than doing that over good food. When she’s not busy at Madeleines, you’ll most likely find her in the water, doing what she loves, swimming!

Her choice is a veggie Spring Bowl – a vibrant bowl of sticky rice topped with charred broccoli, crisp cauliflower, glazed mushrooms, avo, baby spinach and a jammy poached egg, finished with sesame seeds and a sticky Asian dressing.
