⚡️DEMЕKA BECHA — WASHED + BLACK HONEY

We’re incredibly excited to share two coffees from the Demeka Becha site in Bona Zuria, Sidama, Ethiopia: a beautifully clean washed coffee and a vibrant Black Honey, both sourced through our friends at Swift Coffee Sourcing

The Demeka Becha site is owned by Ayele Tulu and managed alongside his son, Tsegab Ayele, with Ayele’s wife, Genet Haile Endeshow, at the heart of the family and the community surrounding the farm. Their hospitality is as memorable as the coffees they produce — from doro wat shared with guests to traditional buna served on the porch beneath flowering vines.

The site sits at the top of a hill, where consistent airflow helps create ideal conditions for drying coffee. Cherries are sourced from nearly 10,000 producers across the surrounding communities of Dilla Suke, Demeka, Goacho, Becha, and Bashiro Dale before being carefully sorted, processed, fermented, washed, and dried on raised beds.

We’ve been tasting coffees from Demeka Becha for years, and these two lots give us a chance to highlight the character of the site through two distinct approaches to processing.

The Washed is incredibly clean and expressive, with notes of lemon sugar, white peach, fresh passionfruit, white tea, lemon balm, and lemonade.

The Black Honey leans into a more saturated, candy-like sweetness, with passionfruit gummy, guava, pink lemon zest, watermelon candy, and fresh pomelo.

Swift Coffee has partnered with Demeka Becha since 2019, building a relationship that has endured through some incredibly challenging years. We’re grateful to be able to continue that relationship and share these coffees with you.

Both coffees are now available at the cafe or online at www.filigreecoffee.com, and we’ll soon be featuring them in the café as single-origin espresso and hand brews ☕️

Atlanta, thank you! ☕️

It was incredible coming together with so many amazing coffee professionals and being surrounded by some seriously talented people. We’re grateful to have been a part of an event that celebrates the creativity, skill, and community that make specialty coffee so special.

A huge thank you to for putting on such an awesome event, and congratulations to every coffee professional who competed. The talent on display was seriously impressive.

We had an absolute blast and can’t wait to see everyone again next year. Until then, keep brewing, competing, and pushing coffee forward.

Seven months ago, we opened the doors to Filigree Coffee with a simple but ambitious goal: to create exceptional coffee experiences.

A coffee experience that slowed you down, brought you closer to the people you love, and made you appreciate the product itself — coffee.

A space that not only served exceptional coffee, but delivered exceptional hospitality, day in and day out.

Seven months in, we think that’s worth celebrating.
