We lost our friend Don over the weekend.

He was a good friend and a good customer. Many of you knew him from Don’s auto body here in Waterloo. He was a genuine Ford guy.

My favorite story about him started in October of 2022…

I was approached by a guy who was selling a car for his friend. It was a 1955 Ford Town Sedan. When I told Don what I was going off to drag home, his eyes opened up and he started asking me a million questions.

As I started to put this basketcase of a car back together again, he started to show up bearing gifts, carburetors, carburetor kits, a distributor, and other odds and ends… but then he showed up with a brand new engine decal set.

I began to get suspicious… it sure was awful nice of him to continually bring me parts for this car, but he didn’t want anything for them.

Then he fessed up.. he wanted to buy it from me when it was done 🤣😂

After I had it ready to go, we decided to both write a $ number on a piece of paper and we’d split the difference.

Well, we both wrote the same number, so the deal was done!! It worked out wonderfully, neither one of us had to haggle or strain a friendship!!

I wouldn’t have been able to sell it to anybody else anyways, he had me over a barrel with all of the parts he brought over, he knew exactly what he was doing😂🤣

We love you and we’ll miss you Buddy❤️❤️

FREE BREAKFAST FOR DAD!!

Waterloo Blooms and Hartwig's Waterloo Diner will be picking up the tab for Dad’s tomorrow, he’ll have his choice of Specials off the board!!

I put the Hartwig kids to work picking Fresh Strawberries 🍓 right off the vine at Jelli's Market in Farmington!!

I changed up the menu for tomorrow and we will be having Crêpes topped with Fresh Strawberries… I’ll make real whipped cream in the morning to go along with them!!
