05/01/2026

Reservations for the May 16 alumni banquet are due by May 06. A limited number of reservations can be accepted after that date by contacting Jean Holzhueter at 920-478-8194 or [email protected]. Reservations must be paid for in advance. Walk-ins not accepted.

The current WHS Alumni Assn officers are Jean Holzhueter, Class of 1966, who is president & Valery Geise Silha, Class of 1963, who is VP. Younger alumni are needed to serve as officers if the alumni assn is going to continue. The May 22, 2027 banquet will be the last one that Val & Jean will organize. Planning for the banquet has been simplified in recent years. Invitations are no longer mailed to the 5-year reunion classes which saves hundreds of dollars in printing & mailing costs plus a lot of work. Glenn's Market provides quality food & takes care of everything needed for the meal. The program is kept to one hour. The cafeteria looks decorated with gold & maroon disposable tablecloths on the tables. Please let Jean or Val know if you are willing to get involved & keep the alumni assn going.

They graduated in 1945, 80 years ago! Toastmaster John Culbertson’s speech was very well received. He talked about his time at WHS & the “Waterloo Retirees,” a group of retired Waterloo teachers who meet monthly with 2 larger events per year. Evie Quamme, senior class president, introduced her classmates at the banquet & included their future plans. Class of 1975 50th Reunion Scholarships were presented by Nancy Zimbric Hagan to Emerson Setz & Emerson Schulenberg. WHS Alumni Assn Scholarships were awarded to David Cefalu & Kylie Webster. The Class of 1975 won the attendance trophy for having the most members at the banquet. Earlier in the program, former cheerleaders Kathy Herfel & Ruth Arians led the attendees in singing the school song. During the brief business meeting, the need for younger alumni to serve as officers in order for the alumni banquet to continue was mentioned. Plants donated by McKay’s became door prizes at the end of the banquet.
