The Royale

The Royale A respectable place you can meet up with your friends for a drink, go on a date or even come in with your mother. We are smoke-free indoors and outdoors.
(1608)

We are a finer neighborhood bar that serves great food. It is a cozy and comfortable spot to meet up with your friends, where you can relax and unwind. We are located just a short distance from scenic Tower Grove Park and the renowned Missouri Botanical Garden. We have our own beautiful courtyard, where you can enjoy good weather for table service and year-round to have a drink in the fresh air. S

moking is allowed on our sidewalk seating. At our bar, we believe in quality over quantity. That’s why we tend to shy away from large groups of diners, as our bar and kitchen are best suited for smaller, more intimate gatherings. While we do offer carryout, it’s not our specialty. We want to ensure that every customer has a great experience, so we kindly ask for your understanding on this. Kids are always welcome, and we have one booster available for our younger guests. Every once in a while, we do some pretty interesting things. For instance, we host a number of offbeat events throughout the year, including our own Derby Party. The Royale is the home of the original Kentucky Derby Party in St. Louis, a grand party that happens every May since 2005. We also regularly host local DJs for evening spins. Consider following us on our Instagram feed, where we announce our events and weekly schedules. We can assure you that something interesting will strike your fancy.

The Royale will be closed Sunday, May 24 and Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day weekend.

Sometimes even the bar stools need a day off.

We’ll reopen Wednesday, May 27 at 4pm with cold drinks, a full kitchen, and whatever stories everybody got into over the long weekend.

Before podcasts swallowed the earth, there were just barrooms full of people talking.

We’re doing that again as The Royale turns 21 with the return of the live talk show Free Candy.

Lucky to have neighborhood stalwart and storyteller Amanda Doyle hosting while I publicly process my increasingly Irish midlife pivot in front of a microphone.

Sunday, June 7 - 3pm
Hosted by Amanda Doyle
Kevin Scannell
Eamonn Wall
Surprise Guests
Special musical guests: The High and The Mighty

We’ll probably talk about Galway, bars, poetry, Gaeilge, sister cities, community-building gone sideways in the best possible way, and how a South City tavern accidentally became part of an international exchange program.

No paywall. No podcast app. Just people in the courtyard behind the neighborhood bar.

Rain date: 6/14
Call made 48 hours out.
DM to hold a table or seats.

She fat-washed whiskey with roasted turnips, shrubbed a margarita with red bell pepper, and turned butterfly pea flower into something genuinely magical. Royale Bar Manager Heather McGhee doesn’t just teach cocktail classes — she teaches you how to think about a drink.

Alongside Ethnobotanist Kate Farley, who connected every pour back to the living world it came from.

Last night’s MOBOT class sold out. More coming this summer. 🌿🍸
