This is definitely the hardest post we have had to make. With the heaviest and broken of hearts we have made the impossible choice to close our beloved restaurants, Black Sheep, Three Little Monkeys & Mama 2’s Biscuits. This decision did not come lightly; it came after years, months, & days of conversation, reflection, and trying to figure out how to make this work.
We have been, in one way, shape or form, a part of the Morganford community since 2007. When we took ownership in 2018, it was like coming home again.
We were able to survive the pandemic, renovations, rebranding, reopening, creating new concepts and opening another location - we brought new life to the street and completed our restaurant family. Unfortunately, we can’t sustain any longer.
We know we aren’t alone. We share this struggle with many other small businesses, especially in the hospitality industry, all around the country. The costs of operations are extremely high & unforgiving, all while the economy & dining habits have changed and no longer align with what we need to open the doors every day. We wish it were different.
We have put so much of our hearts and lives into these restaurants, and we are heartbroken to be walking away; but it has become clear that we just cannot financially move forward.
The amount of relationships formed & celebrated inside of our walls is countless. We have had the joy and privilege to meet and love the best people who simply started as customers, neighbors, and employees. We are honored to have hosted weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, first dates, girls nights, bar crawls and so much more. We thank you so much for trusting us and allowing us to be such an important part of your lives.
We want to thank every single employee who has worked inside these walls. You all have allowed us to chase our dreams. You all have worked hard alongside us to create a warm & welcoming environment and helped us build a lovely home for so many. Words cannot express how thankful we are to the team that we have & have had that showed up every day to keep things going. We couldn’t have made it this far without you.
This isn’t goodbye for us - but more of a see you later… Our employees, customers, and all of the people we have met in our 6 years owning a restaurant on Morganford (and the 17 that we have spent working on the street), have become some of our best friends and our St. Louis family.
Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives. Thank you for letting us feed you, serve you a beer and celebrate with you.
