🥔✨ The secret to really good gnocchi? Start with the potatoes. ✨🥔

Our house-made gnocchi is made fresh every single day, and there’s a little more to it than you might think!

We start by baking our potatoes, then peel and mill them before adding flour and Chef Josh’s secret ingredients 🤫 — including just a hint of nutmeg. From there, we make the dough, roll it out, and carefully cut every little piece by hand.

Then comes the sauce: our rich beef & pork ragout, simmered with onions, carrots, celery, garlic cream, a touch of cinnamon, and finished with Grana Padano. 🧀

It’s a little unexpected, completely delicious, and a whole lot of work that goes into every bowl.

Made from scratch. Made fresh every day. Made with love. ❤️🍝

And yes… we gave away a couple of Josh’s secrets. But only a couple. 😉

16 Fundraisers. 16 Months. 💛

Somehow, we’ve been open for 16 months — and that means this Wednesday marks our 16th monthly fundraiser! 🥹

On Wednesday, August 26 from 4–9pm, we’re proud to donate 15% of ALL sales — food, drinks, and takeout — to WestSide Baby.

WestSide Baby envisions a day when every child has the basic items they need to grow into healthy, happy, and resilient members of our community. Their work helps get essential items into the hands of children and families across King County who need them most. 💛

So come have dinner, grab a drink, order takeout, bring your friends — and know that your visit is helping support local kids and families.

16 months. 16 fundraisers. And a whole lot of gratitude for this community that keeps showing up. ❤️

We’ll see you Wednesday! 🫶

Monday at The Neighborhood: closed to the public.
Monday at The Neighborhood: very much not a day off. 😂

Jenny and Ahmed are already in the kitchen getting a jump on the week — 72-hour pizza dough, homemade ricotta, garlic cream sauce, potatoes cooking for our homemade gnocchi, and approximately a million other things that need to happen before we open our doors Wednesday.

Because a restaurant doesn’t just magically appear when the doors open. There are hours and hours of work behind every plate, and these two are right in the middle of it. ❤️

And because apparently Monday prep also requires a series of ridiculous selfies… naturally, we had to share those too. 😂

Huge appreciation for all the work, care, and love you two put into The Neighborhood — even on your “days off.” ❤️

See you Wednesday! 🍕🍝

A little unexpected Seattle Times love 🥹❤️

We honestly didn’t even know this happened until one of our regulars messaged us a screenshot saying, “YOU’RE IN THE SEATTLE TIMES!” 😂 What a way to find out!

We’re so incredibly grateful to be included in this feature about some of the amazing new restaurants in West Seattle. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the link in the comments.

More than anything, though, we just want to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has walked through our doors, brought friends, celebrated with us, shared our posts, told someone about us, supported our fundraisers, and continues to show up for this little neighborhood restaurant. It means more than we can say. ❤️

And a huge shoutout to our incredible chef team, who work their asses off every single day to put out food we’re so proud of, and to our amazing front-of-house team, who make The Neighborhood feel like The Neighborhood. We truly couldn’t do any of this without you.

We’re just really, really grateful to be here. 🥹

Thank you, West Seattle. ❤️

Looking through these photos has us feeling a little nostalgic. Some are from construction, some from menu testing, and some from those very early days when The Neighborhood was still figuring out exactly what it was going to become.

Sixteen months later, it’s pretty amazing to look around and see what it has become.

After being featured in The Seattle Times this week, and then looking around at a packed restaurant last night, we found ourselves feeling especially grateful for the community that has gotten us here.

There’s an ongoing joke at the restaurant that on particularly busy nights, someone will inevitably say, in the best Pinocchio voice possible, “We’re a real restaurant!” 😂
And honestly, we still say it because sometimes it really does feel surreal.

Thank you to everyone who has walked through our doors, brought in friends, supported our fundraisers, shared our posts, celebrated with us, or simply made The Neighborhood part of your routine. Thank you to our team for showing up and giving this place so much of yourselves. And thank you to our friends and family for all the support behind the scenes.

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come, and even more grateful that we get to keep doing what we love, right here in West Seattle.

So, truly: thank you. ❤️

We’ll keep cooking, pouring drinks, supporting our community, and doing our best to make The Neighborhood feel like exactly that—a neighborhood.

And speaking of being a real restaurant 😂 — we’re open today from 4–9pm (or until we run out of food again 😂) with Happy Hour from 4–5pm. Our temporarily amended hours are still in effect, so come see us!

There is something really special about small businesses in West Seattle.

Not just the businesses themselves, but the people behind them—the people who show up, work incredibly hard, give back, support each other, and make this community what it is.

A few of the people we’re especially grateful for:

🍦 Jack & Heidi at Husky Deli — absolute West Seattle icons. Some of the hardest-working, kindest people around, serving the best ice cream and so much more.

🧈 Whitney at Electric Butter — marketing genius, hilarious, endlessly generous, and one of the biggest cheerleaders for other small businesses.

☕ Cameron & Peter at C&P Coffee — constantly giving, creating, hosting, supporting, and showing up for this community. Plus, really damn good coffee.

🌿 Kandace at Kandu Gardening — one of our own teammates and one of the hardest-working people we know, making gardens all over West Seattle more beautiful.

🧀 Annalise at Charcuterie by Annalise — clever, kind, hilarious, incredibly hardworking, and ridiculously talented.

And then there’s Jenny, the owner of The Neighborhood.

She built this restaurant around the same things we see in all of these people: integrity, kindness, gratitude, generosity, and love for the community around us.

She is also probably going to kill me for writing this because she is incredibly humble and would much rather shine the spotlight on everyone else. 😂

Since day one, we’ve made giving back part of who we are. This month, we’ll hold our 16th monthly fundraiser—one for every single month we’ve been open. ❤️ We’re incredibly proud to support local schools, organizations, and causes that matter to our community.

Because small business isn’t just about what you sell. It’s about the people. The relationships. The willingness to show up for your neighbors.

We’re incredibly lucky to be surrounded by people who do exactly that.

And this list is just the beginning. ❤️
