Attention anyone who loves to garden or just loves flowers!!
St. James Coffee is so excited to be able to bring Morning Star Seeds right to you in our little gift shop.

Morning Star offers hand-painted heirloom seed packets inspired by the medieval Mary Gardens once tended at monasteries and pilgrimage sites. Each design is a work of sacred art-featuring flower legends, saints, and stories that let faith blossom again in homes, classrooms, and gardens.
Every packet is both a gift and a catechism, reconnecting people to the natural world and to Our Lady's enduring presence within creation.

Friend of St. James, Kelly Kraft, is the founder of Morning Star Seeds. She graduated with a degree in Agronomy from NDSU; after getting married made the beautiful decision to homeschool her children over the next 20+ years. During that time, her interest in Medieval folk Catholic history grew. One area of interest was Mary Gardens that the monks, priests, and the 'unlettered' people orally passed on through local tradition and to children. They helped shaped Christendom. Her vision is to unearth these floral traditions to reshape our culture today. What an amazing mission!!!!!

We are blessed at St. James Coffee to have a few pieces for sale from local Catholic artist, Brush of Faith. Faith is a local high school student, an active participant in our teen ministry, and a very talented artist.
Check out her Instagram: .of.faith

If you would like to commission a religious sketch or painting, let Manager Melissa know and she will get you in touch with her. With the rise of AI as a tool to create art, it is important to support those who actually create art the old-fashioned way.

We each have our own gifts and talents that God gave us to help build up the kingdom. Brush of Faith is beautiful example of a teenage girl doing just that.

Thanks to the ladies that came out to paint at our Mary, Star of the Sea party! The canvas tote bags turned out amazing. What a clever (and cute) way to evangelize when you are on the go or relaxing at the beach this summer.

Our Lady, Star of the Sea, Stella Maris, is an ancient and beloved title for the Blessed Virgin Mary. Rooted in early Christian traditions, it signifies her role as a guiding light, protector, and beacon of hope for Christians navigating the turbulent "seas" of life.

Historically, sailors and mariners relied on the North Star to safely navigate the open ocean. The Church draws a spiritual parallel, viewing Mary as the "star" that safely guides believers through the storms of temptation, doubt, and hardship directly to Christ.
Due to her maritime affiliation, she is the patroness of seafarers, fishermen, and coastal communities worldwide.

We are taking a break for the summer from painting parties. Watch for The Gutsy Artsy to be back at St. James Coffee in the fall!!

It was such a blessing to worship together as a community on Thursday night! A special thank you to Father John Sauer for presiding over our Coffee Shop Monthly Mass, which allows us to have our Eucharistic Adoration Chapel.
Curatio led us in praying the rosary and treated us to some light refreshments afterwards.

Please join us at our next monthly Mass that will move back to the 2nd Thursday of the month, June 11th. Curatio will be back to lead prayer after our July monthly Mass.

Please join us for our monthly coffee shop Mass tonight at 6pm! Normally our Mass is the second Thursday of the month, but not this month :-) We are so grateful to have Mass so that we can have the Blessed Sacrament in our Adoration Chapel available to everyone that comes in our door.
Our friends from Curatio, the Catholic Healthcare Worker Apostolate, will lead us in praying the rosary after Mass as we are in the month of May, where we honor our Blessed Mother. Last month they led us in praying the Divine Mercy chaplet ❤️
