🎁 The best gifts come with a story.

The book that made you think of someone special. The one you couldn't put down. The story you loved so much you just had to share it.

This holiday season, give more than just a gift. Give someone their next favorite book, a new adventure, or a story they'll carry with them long after the last page. 📖❤️

Because some of the best gifts aren't just opened. They're read. 📚✨

🎄 Shop small. Gift stories. Support independent bookstores.

📚 Shop The Forbidden Shelf this holiday season and let us help you find the perfect story for everyone on your list! ❤️

Calling all my educator and librarian friends! 📚🎧

Did you know Libro.fm has a FREE Advanced Listening Copy (ALC) program for qualifying educators and librarians?

We all know how hard it can be to find time to sit down with a good book, especially when you're juggling a million other things. This program gives you access to a great selection of upcoming and new releases in audiobook format, completely free!

And full disclosure, The Forbidden Shelf doesn't get anything from this program. But we don't believe in gatekeeping good bookish resources, especially when they benefit the people who help foster a love of reading every day. 💚

If you're an educator or librarian, definitely check it out! And tag someone who might not know this exists!

🏆📚 The readers have spoken! Well, the indie booksellers have, anyway!

The second cycle of the 2026 Indies Choice Book Awards is officially underway, but if you're looking for your next great read, check out the shortlists and winners from the first cycle from earlier this year.

From literary fiction and fantasy to nonfiction and children's books, there's a little something for everyone.

👀 How many of these have you read? Any favorites? Or did you just find your next read?

🛒 See something you want to add to your shelf? Shop through The Forbidden Shelf and support an independent bookstore while you're at it! Links are in our bio.
