Dear friends and neighbors,
After much thought, The West-Side Mad Greek Deli will be closing. Our building has been sold, and the increased economic pressure with no relief in sight has made it impossible to continue. We’ve been pushing hard for a long time, but it’s time to call it with grace.
From the start, I’ve tried to uphold the Mad Greek heritage and honor my best friend’s dream of bringing a new location back to Portland’s west side—reclaiming a spot among the city’s favorite places to visit. While this chapter is ending, that dream still matters to me, and I hope there may be a way forward someday.
What matters most right now is closing the right way. We will take care of our employees and our vendors—with smiles, not locked doors and unpaid bills. When I shared the news with our team today, I was humbled to learn they’re committed to riding this out to the end. I am deeply blessed by their loyalty and by your support. I have nothing to be ashamed of. I gave this everything I had.
Our last day of service will be November 28th (Farewell Party 11am to Close) . Until then, if you’re thinking about going out, please join us in our final weeks. Share a meal, a story, a memory we would love to see you.
