Things are getting wonderfully prickly.
A huge new shipment of cactus has landed at Q***r Plants Café!

Tiny weirdos. Fat little barrels. Spiky characters. Statement-sized specimens. Cacti for windowsills, desks, plant collections, gifts—and those mysterious empty corners of your home clearly waiting for something strange.

We have big ones, little ones and everything in between, with a wide range of varieties and prices. Whether you're looking for an inexpensive little botanical companion or a show-stopping cactus, there's something in Cactus Land for you.

Blue Moon Milk
A caffeine-free celestial blend of coconut, butterfly pea flower, chamomile, cinnamon, ginger & warming spices, swirled with oat milk. Made with a beautiful blend from local makers Apothecary Brothers.

Sarsaparilla Spice Latte — Returns!
Our strange and wonderful autumn favorite has returned from orbit: espresso, oat milk, sarsaparilla, molasses, star anise, clove & allspice, finished with a spark of vegan habanero honey. Sweet, earthy, spicy and unlike anything else on the menu.

A TURN OF THE WHEEL: MABON
The Autumn Equinox

Once again, the wheel turns.

The Autumn Equinox marks that fleeting threshold when light and darkness come into near balance—and from here, our days begin their long journey toward winter. For generations upon generations, the changing season has accompanied harvest, gathering, gratitude and preparation for the colder months ahead.

Today, many modern Pagans celebrate the equinox as Mabon, a festival of harvest and balance on the Wheel of the Year. The name itself is actually a modern tradition, adopted in the 1970s from Mabon ap Modron, a figure of medieval Welsh legend. The equinox is ancient; the name Mabon is a newer branch growing from a much older tree.

And perhaps that makes this an especially lovely moment for setting intentions.

What have you grown this year?
What are you ready to harvest?
What can be allowed to fall away?

Autumn reminds us that letting go isn't the opposite of growth. The trees themselves show us otherwise.

May this turn of the wheel bring a little balance to your days, gratitude for what has flourished, and space for whatever wants to grow next.

FIERCE HAS ENTERED THE CHAT

Meet Begonia ferox—the Fierce Begonia—a rare botanical oddity native to the limestone forests of southwestern China.

First collected by botanists in 2011 in the Chunxiu Headwater Forest Nature Reserve in Guangxi, Begonia ferox was found growing among limestone rocks and leaf litter beneath evergreen forest. In the wild, the species is considered very rare and was originally known from just this remote locality.

And then there are those leaves.

As they mature, they develop extraordinary dark, cone-shaped structures called bullae, giving the plant its prehistoric, almost otherworldly appearance. In fact, the name ferox was chosen specifically for its fierce-looking foliage.

Strange. Architectural. Ancient-looking. And undeniably fierce.

We have only a limited number of Begonia ferox available in the plant shop, so come meet this botanical curiosity while they're here.

At Q***r Plants Café, we don’t open a carton when you order your oat or nut milk. We make it fresh, right here in the café with Numilk.

In fact, we’re currently the only café in Portland using the Numilk system.

Our Numilk lineup includes organic oat & cashew milks, plus pistachio and almond milks—made from simple plant-based ingredients and transformed into fresh, creamy milk right before it reaches your cup.

It’s one of those little things you might not notice when you order your latte.

Chocolate With a Mission

Before there was Missionary Chocolates, there was a Portland naturopathic medical student named Melissa Berry making dairy-free truffles for her vegan mom.

Then something unexpected happened.

Those homemade chocolates won first place at Portland’s Northwest Chocolate Festival — and a little kitchen experiment became Missionary Chocolates, founded right here in Portland in 2008.

The “Mission” in Missionary isn’t just a clever name, either. From the beginning, Melissa’s larger dream has been to use chocolate to help fund an integrative healing center in Portland.

And now we’re carrying one of their newest creations at Q***r Plants Cafe:

A gloriously over-the-top, seasonally changing chocolate bar filled with treats like mini marshmallows, cacao nibs and crunchy gluten-free pretzel pieces, all tucked into 64% fair-trade chocolate.
