My name is Donna operating partner of the Sweet Spot Cake Shoppe in St. It started with the passion for art and the dream of bringing joys and smiles to those around me by creating custom cakes for almost every occasion. Over the years, I developed the nickname "The Cake Assassin." It started in the 200 square foot kitchen of my home in O’Fallon, Missouri. I’ve always dreamed of owning my own cust
om cake and dessert shop. That dream started when I had the privilege of creating a custom wedding cake for some special newlyweds back in 2012. Being a highly skilled custom cake designer is only half of the ingredients (pun intended) of being a successful cake and dessert shop owner. The other half presented it’ self when my brother Micheal Martin recently retired after over three decades of police work in St. With his work ethic and expertise, I believe like, a good cake, we have the right ingredients to make Sweet Spot Cake Shoppe your number one cake store in the metro. My name is Michael Martin operating partner of the Sweet Spot Cake Shoppe in St. My passion for helping people started at an early age. The rewarding feeling of being a civil servant; and recently retired commander for a police department in St. Louis County after 31 years is something that I am extremely proud of. It’s well documented that being a police officer is not about the money. For me, it was more about being of assistance to others and putting the needs of those less fortunate ahead of my own. Unfortunately, in the early morning hours just before dawn in July 2008, I responded to what became a life-altering call. Upon arrival, as I exited my patrol vehicle, I was immediately under fire and shot in my shoulder with a 7mm rifle. The unstable person shot at me numerous times, striking my windshield, dashboard, and, roof as he continued trying to end my life. After three shoulder surgeries and a few months digesting what occurred that morning, I realized I wanted more out of my personal life. I wanted to be closer to those I loved, and I experienced an overwhelming feeling to be a kinder and gentler person, understanding that the decades of being a police officer had made me grow hardened and unfortunately cynical. After this life-changing event I chose to stay and finish my career all of the while dreaming about what the next chapter would bring. I’ve been blessed to find the perfect thing to put my time and energy into, and that’s my sister Donna and her incredible ability to make amazing custom cakes and desserts. If you read this and stop by please make sure to introduce yourself to me. I’d like to personally thank you for giving our establishment a chance to prove to you that we are the sweet spot in St. Louis. Thank you
