Four years ago, Sean was reminded what it really means to act like an owner.

The restaurant had closed due to extreme temperatures, but guests still wanted to come in. So Sean grabbed a spot behind the bar, started pouring beers, washing glasses, and talking with guests.

UPDATE:

We wanted to share an update after receiving plenty of thoughts about the post and also having one of the families of one of the kids reach out to us about the incident.

Our restaurant is on the second floor and the kids climbed up an unstable netted trellis to climb over the railing to the patio and then enter our space after all of the businesses were closed for the night. We had team members in the restaurant cleaning up from the day who saw the kids enter. After the team asked the kids to leave they escorted them out of the building. At the end of the day nothing was broken or stolen. We have no idea what would have happened if no one was in the building at the time so we cannot speculate intent.

Our biggest concern is of the safety of our team and our community. I personally believe it has been overlooked that there were two groups of kids that night. Not only the kids people here who have many people defending them but also the young adults who are team members working in the space who were terrified when they realized someone was breaking in.

Our goal in this message was not to prosecute anyone but figure out the best way to keep our team and the young people in the picture safe. These situations can turn super dangerous quickly. Falling from where these kids climbed up would have been at a minimum serious injuries. There are cement planters and a cement sidewalk that could have killed one of them.

We appreciate everyone’s energy in commenting. Finally if anyone wants to not come back into our restaurant because we are trying to figure out who broke into our space we understand and whole heartedly agree we are not the right fit for you.
