Card surcharges are going away in Australia. 🇦🇺

From 1 October, businesses can no longer add a surcharge when customers pay by card. But the cost of accepting those payments isn’t going away.

Our latest blog looks at what the change means for hospo margins, and how 's helpful tools won't make a meal of menu-wide updates if prices need a tweak.

From 1 October 2026, the way Australian businesses handle card surcharges is changing. If you run a cafe, restaurant or bar, there’s a high chance you’ve already heard something about it. Maybe from your milk supplier, who heard it from the pie guy down the road, who got his version from someone...

Our latest blog digs into the numbers, what to look for, and why managing labour with a chainsaw probably isn’t the answer.

If you ask around, you’ll hear all sorts of numbers for what a cafe or hospitality venue “should” spend on staff. 25%. 30%. 35%. Maybe 40%. So which one is right? Annoyingly, it’s potentially all of them.

Some like it cold! 🧊

In our latest blog we dig into the data behind the growth of cold coffee orders and how changing customer habits are creating new opportunities for independent cafés.
