The Sloop has seen a lot since 1312: smugglers, fishermen, storms and centuries of stories told at the bar, some of them about guests who never checked out. On Saturday 31st October we’re inviting you to join them.

There’ll be live music, prizes for the best fancy dress (the scarier the better) and free entry. Grab a pint, find a seat and keep an eye on the empty stool in the corner.

All welcome. Living or otherwise 🎃

Our idea of a great autumn day in St Ives, start to finish 👇

8:30am: Hop on the little branch line from St Erth. The views along the bay are half the reason to come by train.
9am: Breakfast at The Sloop, right on the waterfront.
11am: Ice cream in hand, wander down Harbour Beach. Be vigilant - ruthless seagulls do not discriminate.
12:30pm: Coffee break at one of the town’s many great independents.
2pm: Pop into The Art of Brewing for a taste of what St Ives Brewery has been working on.
3pm: The Tate. Good art, great views, and the best place to wait out an autumn shower.
5pm: Watch the light go down over the harbour.
7pm: A slow evening stroll round to Porthminster.
9pm: Back to ours for a pint or two, with a room upstairs so there’s no rush to leave.

Happy International Artist Day 🎨

Artists have been drawn to St Ives since Turner sketched here in 1811. The railway brought painters in numbers from 1877, and they turned old net lofts into studios. Leach, Wallis, Hepworth and Nicholson followed, and Tate St Ives opened in 1993. Most will tell you it’s the light.

The Sloop has been part of that story too, from the Victorian painters who made it their local to Hyman Segal’s drawings still on our walls. So we love seeing the old place still inspiring artists today.

Fridays at The Sloop are for steak 🥩

Every Friday from 4:30pm to 9pm, the grill menu takes over: sirloin, rump, BBQ pork ribs and the Sloop Mixed Grill, with pepper, mushroom & mustard or chimichurri on the side.

Order two steaks and we’ll pour you each a glass of house w**e or a pint, on us 🍷🍺

The full daily menu is on too, so everyone at the table is sorted.

Ask anyone who’s been coming here for years and they’ll tell you exactly where they like to sit. That’s the thing about The Sloop. It’s a pub made of cosy corners, and everyone has their favourite.

The tide’s out, the days are drawing in and there’s a pint with your name on it. Autumn afternoons don’t get much better than this. 🍂

If you’re after a few more places to tuck in this season, we’ve put together a guide to cosy pubs in St Ives - read it here: https://sloop-inn.co.uk/cosy-pubs-in-st-ives/

The Sloop’s very own 1312 Gin is distilled for us in Mid Cornwall from Cornish potatoes, with Cornish rosemary and bay in the botanicals. Water’s never sounded quite so dull. Happy International G&T Day 🍸

Quieter beaches, earlier sunsets, and a table by the window overlooking the waterfront 🌊

The Captain’s Table sits above the bar at the Sloop, a smaller, more intimate for dinner for two. Finish the night with a stroll along the harbour beach before heading home ⛵️

Date night, sorted. Book your table at https://sloop-inn.co.uk/dining/sloop-pub-captains-table/ or call 01736 796584.

Meet The Courtyard, our favourite room for anyone travelling with a dog 🐾

It has its own private courtyard, so your dog can stretch their legs, have a sniff around and soak up the sun while you put the kettle on. No lead, no rush.

The Courtyard is one of four dog-friendly rooms at The Sloop, alongside Bosun's, Net Loft and Lower Deck. Dogs are £10 per pet per night. Just give us a call or drop us an email after booking and we'll add them to your stay.

See you (both) soon 🐶

Sunday sorted 🍽️

Roast beef, pork belly or nut roast? It's a tough choice, but somebody's got to make it. We're serving Sunday lunch every week from 12 till 4:30pm, so there's no need to rush the morning walk along the harbour.

Choose from roasted topside of beef, rolled roasted pork belly or our nut roast, all with the trimmings, and pull up a chair. Walk-ins welcome, but it's worth booking a table if you're coming as a group.

See you Sunday 👋

Happy International Pizza and B**r Day (yes it’s a real thing), and we don't need telling twice 🍕🍺

Celebrate the classic pairing and head up to the Upper Deck, grab a seat on the terrace and let us bring it all to you. A Grancho with crab, a Diavola if you like a bit of heat, or a good old Margarita, and a pint of something local alongside: Korev or a Meor from just up the road in Hayle.

Then sit back and watch the harbour do its thing below.

One thing worth knowing: the Upper Deck shuts up shop for the winter after Saturday 31st October, so there's not long left this year. Come up and see us before it goes into hibernation till March.

See you up there 👋
