Snug Coffee Shop

A cup of coffee can help someone get to a hospital appointment. ☕

It can help put food on the table for a family in crisis, provide baby essentials for a new parent, welcome an older person to coffee morning, or give a neurodivergent young person a volunteering opportunity where they feel valued.

That is the community behind Snug. Every purchase helps support the work of Community Volunteers Wales and the people we meet every day.

We put the same care into the coffee itself. We chose our own blend of beans from Colombia, Nicaragua and Brazil, roasted for us by Big Dog Coffee, because you deserve a cup we’re proud to serve. And when you walk into Snug, we want you to find a warm welcome too.

A blend chosen by us. A place to feel welcome. A community it helps.

With love,
Tara & Dawn
Co-founders, CVW and Snug 💚

☕Comfort in every cup. ☕

It starts with coffee we love serving. It’s also the feeling of walking into Snug and finding a warm space, a friendly face and someone who has time for you.

And it reaches beyond your visit. Every purchase helps Community Volunteers Wales support local people through projects including youth clubs, coffee mornings, our baby bank, volunteering opportunities, befriending and transport to health appointments.

When we say “Comfort in every cup,” we mean it! The taste, the welcome and the community projects your visit helps make possible.

Thank you for being part of it. 💚

When you buy a coffee at Snug, you help someone in your community feel they belong. 💚

That means a lot to us. Every purchase gives back to the local projects and opportunities we’ve built through Community Volunteers Wales. And inside Snug, we hope you’ll find a warm welcome, a familiar face or simply somewhere comfortable to spend a little time.

We care just as much about the coffee in your cup. We didn’t just choose a blend off the shelf: we chose our own combination of beans from Colombia, Nicaragua and Brazil, roasted for us by Big Dog Coffee. We wanted to serve you something we genuinely love.

CVW is powered by coffee and its community. Thank you for being part of it with us.

With love,

☕ DID YOU KNOW JUST HOW MUCH YOUR CUP OF COFFEE DOES?

At Snug, a coffee is never just a coffee.
Our coffee is our own signature blend, chosen by us and specially roasted for Snug by Big Dog Coffee. Proper barista coffee you won’t find anywhere else.

And every cup helps power something much bigger.

☕ Tiny Treasures Baby Bank
☕ We Cycle Bike Hub
☕ Transport to Health appointments
☕ Youth clubs and community coffee mornings
☕ Pet food support
☕ The Pantri and emergency food parcels
☕ Volunteering and youth work placements
☕ Apprenticeships, training and routes into employment
☕ And so much more.

Your coffee helps get someone to hospital.
It helps put food on a family’s table.
It gives a young person an opportunity.
It helps someone gain confidence, learn new skills and move towards employment.
It helps create places where people feel included and belong.

And yes, our prices have increased — but Snug is still cheaper than many other coffee shops. We work hard to keep our prices affordable while making sure every purchase can continue to make a difference.

That’s what we mean by Comfort in Every Cup.
Not just because our coffee is beautifully blended and made with care — but because when you choose Snug, you’re choosing to put your money back into your own community.

☕ Every coffee. Every meal. Every purchase.
It all helps make a difference.

🍳 WE WANT TO KNOW HOW YOU LIKE YOUR BREKKIE! 👀

Everyone has their own idea of the perfect Full Brekkie… Question is, who is right?

🍅 Fresh grilled tomato or tinned plum tomato?
⏰ All Day Breakfast or breakfast just for the morning?
🥚 Runny egg or absolutely NOT?
🫘 Beans touching everything… or safely contained in their own little pot? 😂

🥓 What’s the ONE thing that absolutely HAS to be on the plate?
🚫 And what’s the ONE thing that should NEVER make it onto your breakfast?

Then there are the quirks…

Do you build a sausage barrier to stop bean contamination?
Dip your toast in the egg?
Put brown sauce on EVERYTHING?
Save your hash brown until last?

Or have your own very specific way of tackling a Full Brekkie? 😂

👇 Come on then… tell us your perfect breakfast AND your breakfast quirks in the comments!

We’re taking notes… you never know what might end up on the Snug menu. 👀🍳☕

🌶️ There’s a little autumn warmth coming to Snug…

We’re not quite ready to say goodbye to summer yet… but there’s definitely a chill creeping into the air. 🍂

So, perfect timing for a new jacket potato filling – Chilli Con Carne! 🌶️🥔

Hot, hearty and proper comfort food. And even better – our jacket potato prices aren’t changing.

You may notice some other changes soon though, as we have brand new Snug menus on the way.

We’ve always worked hard to keep Snug affordable. Our food and drinks remain competitively priced and, in many cases, cheaper than other local coffee shops – even our coffee, which is our own bespoke signature blend, created especially for Snug by Big Dog Coffee.

We’ve absorbed increasing costs for as long as we can, but there will be some price increases on our new menus. We hope you’ll understand.

Because Snug is more than a coffee shop.

We are not-for-profit. Every penny we make is reinvested into our safe, welcoming spaces and the wider community work behind them.

So when you buy a coffee with us, you're helping us support someone into volunteering, provide food for a family in crisis, provide essential baby items for a new parent or carer, help someone get to a hospital appointment they otherwise couldn't access, or help someone experiencing isolation find friendship and community.

You're also helping us provide spaces where youth clubs, coffee mornings, mental health and wellbeing groups and other community activities can happen.

Snug - Comfort in a cup ☕

But that cup does far more than provide a little comfort.

Every sip supports community. 💚

Thank you for continuing to choose Snug – it genuinely helps us do what we do.

Now… who's having chilli on their jacket? 🌶️🥔

☕💻 YOUR OFFICE. BUT WITH MUCH BETTER COFFEE.

Did you know we already have regulars who work remotely from Snug?

From people working from home who fancy a change of scenery, to remote staff from organisations across the area — laptops and coffee are a pretty normal sight around here.

And now at Snug @ Sycamore, we’ve made it even easier.

Our new private work booth has:
🔌 Plug socket
📱 USB & USB-C charging
📶 FREE Wi-Fi
🪑 A little privacy when you need to concentrate
☕ Our signature Snug coffee just a few steps away
🍰 Cake, breakfast and lunch when required — obviously
🐾 And your four-legged colleague is welcome too!

No charge for the Wi-Fi. No desk hire. Just grab a coffee, find your spot and get to work.

Sometimes working from home is better when you get out of the house.

🍰 MARKETING FAIL. CAKE WIN. 😂
Our marketing team had ONE JOB.
Take a gorgeous photo of our ridiculously chocolatey chocolate cake, served with cream, looking all beautiful and irresistible ready to tell you:

The kids are going back to school.
You survived the summer.
You’ve earned the cake. ☕🍰

Unfortunately… they ate it.

Apparently the “taste test” became quite thorough, and somebody remembered the photo approximately five mouthfuls too late.
⭐ Cake: 10/10
📸 Photography: 1/10
🧠 Work focus after seeing cake: 2/10
So...
📸 THE SNUG PHOTO CHALLENGE is on

During the first week back at school, take a photo of anything you’re enjoying at Snug — coffee, cake, breakfast, lunch, whatever looks good — and share it with us/tag us.

Every photo entered goes into a draw to win:

☕🍰 COFFEE & CAKE FOR TWO — ON US!

Because frankly, judging by the evidence above, you can't do much worse than our marketing team. 😂

Snug Risca is open bank holiday Monday

Come for the coffee. Stay for the community. ❤️

Any thoughts?

🌿 **COULD YOU HELP MAKE RISCA A LITTLE WILDER?** 🐝🦋

We’re teaming up with Gwent Green Grid, Gwent Wildlife Trust, Our Voice - Ein Llais and and we want local people to help shape a new community nature project.

What could we do together?

🌼 Create wildflower areas
🐝 Make homes for wildlife
🌱 Improve local green spaces
🧤 Organise litter picks
🚶 Enjoy wellbeing walks
💡 Or bring your own ideas!

**No experience needed. No big commitment.** Just an interest in making our community a little greener.

We’ll start with a relaxed get-together at The Sycamore Centre to hear your ideas, then see what we can make happen together.

💚 **Fancy being part of it?**

Drop **“I’M IN”** below or send us a message and we’ll arrange a time that works for as many people as possible.

**Small actions. Local people. A wilder community. 🌿**

Picture for future development; Ty Sign Nature Wellbeing Hub is under development, (land north of Eppynt Close) however, in the meantime we'd love to hear what you, our community, would like to see?

14/08/2026

💚 HAVE YOU DISCOVERED SNUG @ SYCAMORE YET? 💚

We might just be one of Ty Sign’s best little hidden gems. ☕🌿
