Wonderful afternoon being fascinated by fungi with my "Woodland Ways" event.
The icing on the cake was, quite literally, provided by Philippa's Seasonal Kitchen - she brought us pumpkin cake from her new autumn cookbook. It was soooo good!
We found some brilliant fungi, including Beefsteaks and Dog Stinkhorn, and learned to make plasters from Birch Brackets.
The remaining sessions for 2026 are now fully booked, but there will be more details coming soon for 2027 adventures.

Today, I am treating myself to all things autumn. A walk in the woods, an appreciation of the low bright sunshine, then some time in the kitchen with the new Philippa's Seasonal Kitchen "Autumn" book. When the chill creeps back in, a mug of mushroom hot chocolate by the fire.
Philippa Vine is joining us for the Woodland Ways "Fascinate" session in October, but that is fully booked - I will let you know when her "Winter" book is out and we can enjoy more of her cooking in the winter woods.

Celebrating 25 years of Love British Food with ambassador Philippa Vine and the ultimate autumn comfort food roast chicken cooked in an ESSE.
