Five years ago I made a pact with myself to create a printed nature journal every year for ten years, each one full of my photographs, illustrations and words about my deepening relationship with nature.
I have just printed the fifth one which means I’m half way there already!
No.1 is a gentle walk through the seasons
No.2 tells the story of how nature held me after losing my studio in a huge fire
No.3 is what I noticed in my year of rest and recuperation after a hysterectomy
No.4 celebrates our beautiful meadow wedding - the build up, the midsummer high and the come down
And here we are at No.5. This one holds thoughts about gathering back our scattered attention in a noisy, scary and rapidly changing world.
People say they find my journals uplifting, nourishing and inspiring. They read them slowly, savouring the moments, feeling the calm, noticing new things of their own and they look forward to them coming out each year.
You can find issue five (and the others) on my website now and they can be posted around the world.
Let's see what we notice together. x
Thank you for your lovely ‘film friday’ clips that have helped me to tell the story. I haven’t added music because I love the fact that our blackbird started singing when I was reading about him. And I probably should oil our creaky front door but I kind of like it. It’s the sound of home.
