At The Caledonian, every detail tells a story.
Our newly-refurbished Caledonian Suite proudly displays the historic Glasgow crest, beautifully painted by , as a tribute to the inspiration behind the suite, and The Caledonian’s original Glaswegian architect, George Washington Browne. Depicting the story of the ‘Tree, Bell, Fish & Bird’, the suite is imbued in tones of deep red, weaving a tale through bold fabric, unique flourishes, and nature-inspired textures - from the moment you arrive at its door.
A closer look at the crest itself, inspired by the centuries old Scottish legend, the symbol features St Mungo in the middle with two salmon either side holding the ‘lost ring’ in their mouths, retrieved from the River Clyde. A small detail perhaps, but one that reflects the stories, heritage and craftmanship that can be found throughout The Caledonian.
Because here, history is woven in to every stay.
