There’s a good chance you’ll have seen our silver carving trolley while dining at Talbooth Restaurant.

Whether it’s carving Sunday lunch at the table, serving turkey tableside throughout the month of December, or simply sitting proudly in the hallway between services, it’s been part of the restaurant’s story for over fifty years.

Recently the trolley went away for its first (well-earned) major professional restoration, and on its return we thought it would be fun to recreate a photo from when it first arrived at the Talbooth back in 1974.

Our 2025 Christmas Taste of Talbooth menu goes live this evening, a five-course fine dining menu available Monday to Saturday until the 23rd December.

This exquisite menu, written by our Head Chef Jamie Jackson brings together Christmas flavours in a creative and non-traditional way. Think Terrine of Gressingham Duck or Cannoli of White Crab with Brown Crabe Mousse, Warm Pavé of Smoked Salmon, Fillet of British Beef and Café du Paris and bacon jam filled roscoff onion or Loin of Venison Pithivier, with outstanding blackberry ketchup and honey roasted piccolo parsnips, followed by Chocolate Brownie with pearl barley ice cream and Fourme au Sauternes to finish.

The menu can be enjoyed with an optional wine flight, perfectly paired to each course.

£85 per person (or £135 with the wine flight).

This recognition, supported by Bibendum, sits proudly alongside our 3 AA Rosettes and 4 AA Red Stars, reflecting our continued commitment to exceptional food, wine and hospitality.

Over the past year, we’ve evolved our wine list even further with the introduction of an English Wine section, complete with a map highlighting where each wine originates - a true celebration of the country’s growing vineyards.
