Three b**rs from Somerset this week! First up we have New Ground, a pale ale from Quantock. I was really looking forward to this one, and it does have a nice flavour, but a bit more floral than I was expecting.

From Glastonbury we have their IPA, Voodoo, (well it is Halloween this weekend), and it is an absolute smasher. Full of flavour and really easy to drink, this should prove to be very popular.

Then from Fine Tuned we have Somerset Soul, a really tasty amber ale. It's yet another cracker of a b**r, but will it perform as well as the last two bitters we've had on?

Really close to call between Fine Tuned and Glastonbury but if pushed I'd have to go with Voodoo...but only just.

We have the cherry and plum porters from Titanic coming in during November so keep an eye out for those if you like your darker b**rs.

Congratulations to our October accumulator quiz winners.

After 4 weeks of quizzes it came down to just 2 points between 1st and 2nd place. Well done to our winning team who each received a trophy and a £20 gift voucher for the Grazing Cow. 2nd place each received a silver runners-up trophy.

We also wanted to say well done to our losing team, who came every week and went away with a wooden spoon.

Following the huge success of our Casino Night last Saturday, we're excited to announce that tickets for our next BIG event go on sale today.

New Year's Eve at The Ale Way promises to be a fabulous night with lots of fizz, food and music included in the price of the ticket. Plus, someone will walk away with a big cash prize from our special Pug Draw.

Tickets are £25 per person and can be bought in advance from the bar at The Ale Way from today. Let us know by message if you'd like to reserve a ticket and pay when you next pop in.

Spaces will be limited so there’s plenty of room for an enjoyable evening and only people with pre bought tickets will be able to come on the night.

This week we have another couple of new cask ales on offer and a returning favourite of mine.

The first newbie is 1864, a traditional pale ale from Firebrand. It has a lovely colour and aroma with a subtle hop taste. Very enjoyable.

Making a return, from a brewery we've not used for a while, is Misty Mountain Hop, a golden ale from Fine Tuned. This is a beautiful b**r and another favourite of mine. This is hands down my b**r of the week.

After having two bitters sell out faster than the others on offer across the past two weekends, which is absolutely unheard of, I've decided to put a stout on this week! Am I an absolute idiot? We'll have to wait and see. Entire Stout completes our run of Hop Back ales and before I've served one I already know that it divides opinion; a couple of customers think it's the best stout on the market, another thinks the exact opposite! As you know, I'm not a big stout fan, but I think this is very drinkable. It has a slight smoky aroma and a smooth, traditional taste.

Following on from Heidi choosing last week's b**r of the week, which a lot of people agreed with, I'm offering the chance for anyone who fancies it, to come and taste the new b**rs with me on a Wednesday afternoon, help write the review and choose their b**r of the week. Glam and glitz certainly came to the Ale Way on Saturday night

Thank you to everyone who came to our sold out casino night. The effort which was made to dress for the occasion was outstanding. It was really hard to judge the best dressed, but we felt Matt and Sue were deserving winners of the bottles of ch*****ne. Well done to Charlie too for having the highest value of tokens at the end of the night.

We received so many compliments about the night and how Casino Select professionally ran both tables to make it a fabulous evening for everyone.

This week we have three cask ales brand new to The Ale Way.

First up is Glint, a pale ale from Stardust, a brewery from Maidenhead that we've had a couple of really nice b**rs from over the summer. This one is similarly as good, really refreshing with a lovely taste from the Citra and Mosaic hops.

Next up is Time To Burn, an IPA from Bristol B**r Factory. It has a slight bitterness to it but also a tropical flavour. Interesting but really nice.

Lastly we have another outstanding bitter, this one's called B**reux Tapestry from Hop Back, the third in our run of Hop Back b**rs. They have all sold really well and this should be no exception as it has a fabulous traditional taste to it. Bitter drinkers should love trying this one. I can't choose a favourite this week so Heidi has gone for Glint, which is no surprise given her b**r tastes!

Courtesy of our friends at Hop Back Brewery and West Street Picture Framing we have a new addition to the bar. It is a fabulous tie-in to the B**reux Tapestry ale and is well worth coming to have a look at!

It’s less than a week to go until The Ale Way’s casino night. As a reminder we will be closing at 6.30pm so the company can set up the tables ready for the event at 7.30pm. Only people with tickets can come into the pub after this time.

We have 4 tickets left for the night. Each £20 ticket includes games on the 2 casino tables run by a professional company and a buffet. Ch*****ne prizes will also be given for the 2 best dressed people.

If you’d like one of the last 4 tickets please get in touch or pop into the pub before Saturday. It should be a fantastic night

Fresh on keg today, another hazy IPA, this one is from Bristol B**r Factory called Outer Banks.

It has a refreshing citrus flavour but with a slight bitterness. Very nice indeed!

I was surprised last week by the rapid sales and love for Hop Back's Green Hopped. It was a fantastic b**r but I wasn't sure how it would go down. This week we have Hop Back's Citra, a golden ale, which again has a distinct flavour and fabulous appearance. Taste-wise I prefer this one to last week's but will that opinion be shared?

Next to it we have Full Flow, a new IPA from Firebrand. This is really nice with a subtle flavour and I think it will be popular.

Lastly we have what I believe to be the best bitter we have ever sold in The Ale Way, the aptly titled Simply The Best from Quantock. If we didn't like to try different b**rs I would have this on every week! Unfair on the other two but this was always going to be my b**r of the week!

A busy time coming up as we head into the cold months. The next quiz is on Sunday, followed next Saturday with our Casino night and a curry night to come in November. And before we know it, it will be Christmas! 😳
