It’s with a very broken and heavy heart that I’ve made the decision to put Mamas on the market. ❤️
If you can please share. ❤️
A lot of people have been asking why, and the simplest answer is that life has become heavier than I can realistically carry right now.
There are a lot of family health struggles happening behind the scenes. Jeff’s aneurysm surgery has now been moved into the urgent category, he’s going to need help through surgery and recovery, and there are other people in our family who need us too.
And somewhere in the middle of all of that, there’s still a restaurant that needs me every single day.
Mamas isn’t something I can just casually show up for. It needs everything. Your time, your energy, your brain, your body, your patience, your problem-solving, your heart… and some days apparently your last remaining nerve too. 😮💨
I’ve spent a lot of time trying to convince myself that I can do all of it.
I can take care of everyone.
I can be there for Jeff.
I can handle the appointments.
I can handle the surgery.
I can help family.
I can run the restaurant.
I can keep smiling.
I can just push through.
But the truth is, I can’t.
As much as I would love to say I’m Superwoman, I’m not. I’m one person, and apparently, pretending that if I just push myself a little harder, somehow another 10 hours are going to magically appear in the day, is not correct analogy.
And that is what makes this so hard.
Because Mamas was never just four walls, tables, food and a cash register.
What we have shared inside these four walls means more to me than I could ever properly put into words.
We have laughed together, cried together, celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, new babies, losses, milestones, good news and some really hard days. I’ve watched your kids grow. I’ve heard your stories. I’ve learned your orders before some of you even sat down. 😂 We’ve shared hugs, sarcasm, ridiculous conversations, coffee, comfort food and pieces of our lives with each other.
Somewhere along the way, you stopped being “customers.”
You became our people.
You welcomed me and us into your lives and your families, and without even realizing it, you all became part of ours too.
I genuinely hope every single person who has walked through these doors knows how loved and appreciated they are.
Because you are.
I am so unbelievably grateful that I got to be part of your lives, even if it was just for breakfast every Tuesday, a coffee on the way to work, Sunday dinner, a quick hello, or sitting across the counter telling me everything happening in your world.
You trusted us with your celebrations, your rough mornings, your family dinners, your gossip, your laughter and your stories.
That is something I will carry with me forever.
I have poured so much of myself into Mamas, but the truth is, you all poured just as much back into me.
You supported us.
You showed up.
You checked on us.
You laughed with us.
You became family.
And I will never, ever take that for granted.
So please know this decision isn’t coming from a place of wanting to leave any of that behind. Quite the opposite.
That’s why my heart is so heavy.
Sometimes loving your family means admitting you cannot be everything to everyone at the same time, and right now, mine needs me in a different way.
I don’t know exactly what the next chapter looks like yet.
I just know how incredibly lucky I have been to share this one with all of you.
From the very bottom of my heart, thank you for making these four walls feel like home. ❤️
