Hungry Heart Cafe & Catering Fresh & from the heart. A social enterprise by Stella’s Circle. Open Monday to Friday, 11:00am to 3:00pm at 77 Charter Ave. 💜 John’s, NL.

The Hungry Heart Café is a full service restaurant and catering business located at historic Rawlin's Cross in St. We focus on creating nutritious meals that are full of flavor. In addition to the restaurant, we offer extensive catering options. But the Hungry Heart Café is much more. As an initiative of Stella's Circle, we help Stella's Circle participants get trained and experienced in the food industry. Every penny of profit generated by the Hungry Heart Café goes right back into the operation to fund Stella's Circle employment training programs. Learn more at www.StellasCircle.ca.

Yesterday, we celebrated a year of growth and impact at Stella’s Circle’s Annual General Meeting, were serenaded by the amazing Inclusion Choir, and enjoyed a delicious supper prepared by our Hungry Heart team. 💜

From creating 13,000+ hours of supported employment and preparing 4,000 Meals Squared meals, to opening our new Hungry Heart Cafe & Catering in Pleasantville, launching ‘Our Table’ collaboratively with Food First NL and transforming 142 Military Road into our events venue WeAre142, there’s so much to be proud of this past year within our social enterprises. 💫

A special shout-out to our incredible staff who make it all possible…. as well as to each of you for your support and genuine care. Thank YOU! 🙏

After a full weekend of preparing cold plates in honour of First Light's Sisters in Spirit Vigil, we made sure to make lots of extra to share with our wonderful customers. These salads are now available at the café for a limited time 💜

As has now become an annual tradition, today our kitchen team assembled and donated 90 cold plates to the wonderful folks at First Light for their Sisters in Spirit Vigil, dedicated to the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ people (MMIWG2S+), as well as their families and loved ones ✊🏽

Today and every day, we stand in solidarity with those who have lost loved ones, and we continue to recognize the ongoing harms of colonialism and its legacy. This past week, our Manager of Social Enterprises Julia Bloomquist was happy to deliver compost from Our Table, home to the Hungry Heart as well as multiple enterprises of Food First NL including Avalon Food Hub and Food on the Move, over to our neighbours at Caribou Legion Manor 🌱

This compost, collected from all the different social enterprises located here in Pleasantville, is a big help for the vegetable gardens built here at Caribou Legion by the Stella’s Circle Green Team and maintained by the wonderful residents. Just like a well-maintained ecosystem, it’s great to have an opportunity to see how all our enterprises are interconnected 🤝
