𝗗𝗜𝗗 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗞𝗡𝗢𝗪? 🤔
Long before Barracudas became a Fish Hoek favourite, this very corner on Beach and Recreation Road was home to another local legend.
Many Fish Hoek residents will remember The Golden Egg... a much-loved family café that served the community throughout the 1970s and 1980s. It was the place where friends met, families gathered, and memories were made over meals and treats.
Unfortunately, we don't have a photograph of The Golden Egg itself, but the image attached shows Francois Restaurant, which later occupied the same premises before eventually making way for what you know today as Barracudas Restaurant.
The amazing part? More than 50 years later, this iconic beachfront corner is still doing exactly what it has always done best: bringing people together over good food, great conversations, and unforgettable memories.
Today, Barracudas proudly continues that tradition from the very same location, overlooking beautiful Fish Hoek Beach.
For those who love local history, the Fish Valley Museum preserves many fascinating photographs and stories from Fish Hoek's past, including businesses like The Golden Egg that helped shape our community.
Some places change.
Some places endure.
This little corner of Fish Hoek has been feeding hearts and hungry tummies for generations.
