🌑 On 2 August 2027, millions of people will have the opportunity to witness one of the century's most remarkable astronomical events as a total solar eclipse sweeps across parts of Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East. During totality, the Moon will completely cover the Sun, turning daylight into twilight while revealing the Sun's spectacular outer atmosphere, known as the corona.
In locations along the centre of the eclipse path, totality is expected to last for nearly six minutes, making it one of the longest total solar eclipses of the 21st century. As the sky darkens, bright stars and planets may become visible, temperatures can briefly fall, and observers will experience one of nature's most dramatic celestial displays.
Astronomers encourage anyone within or travelling to the path of totality to prepare well in advance and use certified solar viewing glasses during all partial phases of the eclipse.
