A fine-dining restaurant specializing in local foods and local flavor, the Peter Herdic House is located in an 1854 Victorian home, at the entrance to Williamsport's Historic District. Owned and operated by "the Miele sisters", Marcia and Gloria, from our opening in 1984, the restaurant is now owned by Liz Miele and Dante Miele-Elion, children of the original owners. At one time boasting three gen

erations involved in our business (grandmother Daisy Miele worked as pastry chef until the age of 95), the restaurant added a fourth generation to the mix, when Gloria's daughter Liz (executive chef and chief locavore) welcomed her first child in October 2017.

Admittedly, we'll be celebrating a bit late for Bastille Day, but we wanted an opportunity to host a French-style "clambake", which is to say, an outdoor prix-fixe menu centered on bouillabaisse, that famous French seafood stew, with Provençal appetizers, delicious wines, and lots of baguettes.

Join us this Friday, July 17th for a fabulous meal that will transport you to a breezy summer evening in Provence. Dinner will be $70/person. Keep an eye out for the final menu later this weekend 🇫🇷

Quilts galore at the Herd!

We didn’t want our reading of the Declaration last week to steal the attention from our awesome quilt show, or vice versa, so we decided to host the “opening” for the quilt show this Friday from 5-7 pm in our lounge. Please join curator Margie Shaw and her band of quilters to check out a truly beautiful and eclectic show of some of the Williamsport area’s finest quilts. It’s an old art form, but one that is constantly being given new life by talented artists like these.

Meanwhile, in the dining room, we’ll be featuring the blueberries that have suddenly arrived in welcome abundance in our kitchen—after a sad dearth of so many of the tree fruits we love this year. Come feast on these delicious (and healthy!) little orbs while they last!
