Some stories are told around a campfire. Others are told around a pizza.

MacKenzie River has always been the place you land after a long day out. The hike is done, the float is over, the sun is dropping. Somehow, everyone ends up here.

The Great Northern Pie was made for moments like that. Elk sausage, marinated portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, ricotta dollops, and Montreal steak seasoning on a classic tomato base. Hearty, bold, and built for the kind of appetite that only comes after a day spent outdoors.

406 Summer Fare is our yearly love letter to Montana and this Huckleberry Trail Dip helps tell that story better than just about anything else on the menu.

Goat cheese, chorizo, hatch chiles, huckleberry hot honey, and homemade cowboy trail mix inspired by the rivers, road trips, mountain towns, and long summer days that shaped MacKenzie River back in Bozeman in 1993.

One of two new additions to this year’s 406 lineup, built for passing around the table after a day spent somewhere under the Big Sky.

For the third summer in a row, our tables are turning into little art studios again.

Every summer during 406 Summer Fare, kids across MacKenzie River locations grab a crayon, color their way across Montana, and help create some of our favorite restaurant decorations of the year. From colorful trout and mountain scenes to wildly creative road trip maps, we love seeing these works of art hanging around the restaurant all summer long.

And honestly, that’s kind of the heart of it.

A chance for kids to feel proud of what they made while parents get a moment to relax, settle in, and enjoy a good meal together after a long day of summer adventures.

Color to Win runs all summer long at participating MacKenzie River locations, with prizes varying by location.

We’re back at 5pm.

It’s been… a day…

Last night we had a break in and significant damage was done to the interior of our restaurant.

But the thing we love most about our job is the community it cultivates. From guests, to team members, to vendors, to partners, to the corporate office, we’re constantly interacting with hard-working, driven individuals. It’s because of these people, we’re able to re-open our doors not 24 hours after our restaurant was trashed. It's because of these people, we're able to serve the community we love to serve day in and day out.

Special shout out to Central Heating Cooling Plumbing and Electrical AND BIG SKY GLASS MT for dropping everything on a Sunday, during a holiday weekend to fix destroyed bathrooms, broken windows, and everything in between. To them, and the rest of the folks that SHOWED UP, we owe you a debt of gratitude.

This re-opening is not a result of minor damage, it’s a result of incredible people, dropping everything and working together towards a common goal of fixing significant damage. It’s truly remarkable.

One person’s acts won’t hold us down. We’re here to cultivate a welcoming place where folks can create lasting memories and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. See you tonight, Kalispell.

We just dropped off the newly wrapped MacKenzie River trailer at home turf, , and that can only mean one thing: summer in the Flathead is almost here.

Baseball nights, mountain sunsets, cold drinks, and pizza between innings. We’re ready for another season at the park. See you out there soon.

Every summer we bring Montana to the table. The ingredients, the flavors, the feeling of a season spent outside doing exactly what you came here to do.

New this year: the Huckleberry Trail Dip and the Great Northern Pie. One's a warm skillet of goat cheese, chorizo, hatch green chiles, and huckleberry hot honey with a homemade cowboy trail mix. The other is elk sausage, marinated portobello, caramelized onions, and ricotta on a classic tomato base. Both are worth the trip in.

Returning favorites like the Huckleberry Salad and Treasure State Tacos are back where they belong.

There’s something about being out on the river.

The quiet. The patience. The rhythm of it all. You put in the time, trust the process, and sooner or later… it pays off.

Fishing has always been part of who we are at MacKenzie River. Long before River Rewards became our loyalty program, fly fishing was already woven into the fabric of this brand. Our founders spent countless mornings on Montana rivers chasing trout, swapping stories, and finding the kind of peace that only seems to exist waist-deep in cold water with a fly rod in hand.

That spirit found its way into the walls of our restaurants, the stories on our tables, and eventually, even the name of our rewards program.

River Rewards was never meant to feel transactional. It was built around the same idea that keeps people coming back to the river in the first place: the joy of the process, the connection along the way, and the feeling that the little things eventually turn into something worthwhile.

A little patience. A little payoff. A whole lot to look forward to.
