Folks, we've had a great time with the comedy shows, and also have enjoyed great reviews from those who have attended. This is a wonderful service provided by Next Stop Comedy and their extensive list of professional comics that agree to make the drive to Waverly to share with us their talent.
The first show was a huge success. It was right after the great thaw of 2026 and everyone was a little stir crazy. We literally sold-out every seat in the house to the point of standing room only while walk-ins continued pouring through the door.
In response, we then made adjustments to reserve a small amount of seats for walk-ins and reduced slightly the number of seats available for ticket purchases in order to protect the integrity and quality of the service we are committed to provide our guests.
Unfortunately, attendance has begun to fall off slightly every show. We were offering shows on a monthly basis in the beginning.
In responce Next Stop Comedy has reduced the number of performances to bi-monthly in an attempt to bring attendance back up.
The last show wound up with a pretty good attendance, but it was last minute, and there was some concern from the organizers of Next Stop Comedy. At that point they communicated to me that we needed to sell at least 40 tickets of the 140 we have available for each show.
I completely understand their concerns. They are struggling to remain profitable in their endeavor to provide their unique services, as well as completely understanding the concern of our guests not necessarily wishing to purchase tickets too far in advance not knowing if something will come up that forces a change of plans.
We are very thankful for this unique opportunity a small town in such a rural area has to even be considered for a production of this nature, and I would like to thank the folks at Next Stop Comedy for including our establishment in their comedy tour. It would be very disappointing for us, along with a lot of other people who have came and experienced it for themselves with great satisfaction and pleasure for these events to go by the wayside.
Folks have came from every surrounding county and beyond and have shared with me personally their appreciation to have this type of talent and entertainment in a place where they don't have to endure the pandemonium, congestion, annoyance and stress of navigating the big city.
Once again Samuel's on the Square is happy to have procured an exciting opportunity to provide our community a quality dinning/entertainment experience unique to the Humphrey County and surrounding areas.
Samuel's on the Square does not profit what-so-ever form the ticket sales themselves. We only hope that guests will indulge themselves in the inimitable, modestly priced menu. We offer something for everyone from appetizers, desserts, to dinner entrées starting at only $10 !!
As always BYOB is welcomed! We provide the glasses and pop the cork table side with wine, as well as offering Bloody Mary, and Margarita mixer pitchers, and sodas for mixers for you favorite spirits. BYOB is 1/3rd typical bar costs, and we always have your favorite brands ;) By the way, a cooler full of beer is welcomed just the same. We can also provide containers to ice your beer down if you don't wish to bring a cooler.
So, COME on OUT y'all! We need to sell at least 40 tickets to keep the shows coming. Everyone is welcomed! Tell your friends! Get a group together and reserve a table. We have ample room for large parties to enjoy a memorable night with friends and families.
