Save a barn cat pleaseā¦
Where do the old feral cats go? The ones who still hunt at times but it's harder now for them to make it totally on their own in the tough fend-for-yourself world. They survived being born into a world of loveless humans or were thrown into by humans who didn't care.
There are barn homes of course but not enough for all the feral cats. These cats could do well in a barn home. But at this point in their lives, they really could use a little extra help as their joints get creaky and their hunting skills lose their edge and vision fades. Like old humans, it's great if they could have a little more support and a little softer world to have to face, especially the harsh Alaskan winter, every day.
So we are here to ask if you might have a sort of assisted living situation for some elderly, challenged feral cats.
Pictured are Wings and Jesse. Wings, the black girl lived a feral life outdoors in a colony in Anchorage. She was still making it last winter but it was obvious that the life had become really hard for her. She was matted and struggling to move through the deep snow. The home where she had been living with her colony for years was being changed. The land sold, the new owners not happy to have the cats around. We rescued her and took her to a vet. Her fur where she had been so matted is not growing back like it used to. She moves slower and she needs a lot more nap time.
Jesse, the cream colored boy, seems to have both hearing and seeing issues. He needs a home where he can have a supporting friend, like Wings, to alert him to the things he might miss with his limited ability to hear and see. A comfy home to live out the rest of his life. He might still hunt sometimes when it's a good day and his senses are sharp, but we think he does need a little more cushy home and the simple care of a person who would like to help give a pair of special needs cats a place to live out their lives.
If you would be willing to give a good home to these cats who have struggled their whole lives to survive, please call or text us. A good life is what we want for all cats, even the old ones and those who need a little extra love. 907 980-8898
