This week we are trying a brand new special - the colorful & flavorful Bánh Mí! Have you had this Asian fusion sandwich before? You might notice everyone makes it a bit different. This is the Northside version! We've added our twist to it with a bulgogi mayo and chimichurri but the main components are there - tasty pork, pickled veggies, and a hoagie!

We are also trying out a strawberry matcha affogato and an UBE-r dirty soda, pairing sweet cream soda with Ube cold foam. Any Ube fans out there? It is a purple yam native to the Philippines that has a nutty vanilla flavor and bright purple color.

We had a very special guest at Northside Diner yesterday! 📚✨

Andy Hunt, a Washington native and the author behind our 1:00 book on the clock, One Fatal Mistake (written under the pen name Tom Hunt), stopped by for a visit!

We’ve been fans of Andy’s work for years. We still remember attending his reading and book signing at the library a few years ago—it was packed! It’s always exciting to see local talent succeed, and we’re proud to call him a fellow Washingtonian.

It’s not every day that an author featured on our book clock pays us a visit.

We couldn’t resist bringing home this beautiful antique wall phone from our awesome neighbors at Central Park Antiques. If you’ve ever walked toward the restroom and felt like you were headed off to make a phone call in 1925… now you know why. 😄

We’re so grateful for the support they’ve shown us since opening, and they’ve sent so many folks our way. If you haven’t visited their shop yet, make a point to stop in—it’s full of gorgeous antique furniture, collectibles, and local treasures.

And for those who noticed the artwork beneath the phone, that’s a drawing of the building back when it was Winga’s Cafe. Fun fact: that famous teal color everyone remembers was on the outside of the building, not inside!

We love celebrating the history of this space and the businesses that came before us. ❤️

Looks like we’ve become the official Rees family headquarters. ❤️

Many of you already know Andrew, and a few weeks ago his brother Micah joined the Northside crew. Now we’re excited to welcome the woman responsible for both of them—the original Rees herself, Robin!

It’s been fun seeing three Reeses working together under one roof. If you’ve met Andrew or Micah, you already know Robin did something right. The kindness, work ethic, and those big smiles didn’t come from nowhere.

One of our favorite things about Northside is how often it feels like family. Sometimes that’s because of the friendships built here, and sometimes it’s because an actual family ends up working side by side.

We’re so happy to have Robin officially on the team. Having three Reeses on the schedule feels a little like a family reunion, and honestly, we love it.

And for all the other Reeses out there… we might as well complete the collection. 😊

Today marks Northside Diner’s 2nd Anniversary.

Two years ago, we opened the doors to a building that had sat empty for 18 years and took a chance on a dream.

Since then, this community has welcomed us, supported us, and made Northside more than we ever imagined it could be.

To our customers, our staff, and everyone who has believed in us: thank you. We wouldn’t be here without you.

This is just a little sneak peek of the beautiful images she captured of Northside Diner—there are many more to come, and we can’t wait to share them with you. From our cozy booths to the warm glow of our dining room, Essie perfectly captured the charm we love so much.

And while we have your attention… it’s been a little quiet around here this week, so maybe you haven’t heard the news:
