Nicola's Ristorante has become a prime dining destination in the Springfield Metro area. The mushroom and polenta appetizer is earthy-fantastic, and the dessert menu is long and impressive. If you can catch it on special, order the chicken parmagiano. Private parties welcome. Here are a few highlights from our Sassicaia w**e dinner last night.

We had a wonderful evening exploring some exceptional Italian w**es, culminating in the 2023 Sassicaia. Our kitchen put together a special menu for the occasion, featuring handmade pasta, wild boar ragù, and a perfectly seared New York strip, among other courses.

A special thank you to Michael Schmitz for sharing his knowledge and guiding us through the w**es, Nicholas Kandlbinder for his talented and passionate work in the kitchen, and to everyone who joined us for the evening.

We really enjoy putting these dinners together, and we’re already looking forward to the next one!

An Evening with Sassicaia

FIRST COURSE

Seafood Cake

Crab, shrimp, and salmon seafood cake with lemon butter sauce, shaved fennel, arugula, and citrus salad.

Paired with Greco di Tufo

SECOND COURSE

Pappardelle al Cinghiale

Handmade pappardelle with slow-simmered wild boar ragù, guanciale, red w**e, juniper, and Pecorino Romano.

Paired with Le Difese

THIRD COURSE

Braised Short Rib Raviolo

Handmade pasta filled with slow-braised beef short rib, finished with a porcini mushroom and Marsala reduction.

Paired with Guidalberto

FOURTH COURSE

Prime New York Strip

Prime New York strip steak with Tuscan cannellini bean ragout, sautéed cavolo nero, and red w**e veal jus.

Paired with 2023 Sassicaia
