Meet a true fusion dish—rooted in the journey of Syrian Jews to Mexico City.
These shredded mushroom tacos bring together Jewish immigrant flavors and Mexican technique. As Syrian Jewish communities settled in Mexico City, they carried with them the flavors of the Levant—warm spices, bright acidity, layered heat—which met a rich Mexican culinary tradition. The result wasn’t one cuisine, but a blending.
This dish carries that story.
Shredded, spiced mushrooms layered with a tangy, spicy sauce inspired by Syrian flavors. Salsa macha reimagined through a Levantine lens, with dukkah spices. And refried beans with a Sephardic twist—made from fresh fava beans instead of the more typical black beans.
A delicious story of diaspora.
All in one bite.
