10 years.

Today marks a decade since Valhalla Sandwiches opened its doors in Greenwood. Before that, we were a food truck called Now Make Me a Sandwich, with a couple strongly-formed opinions about what meats and cheeses should go between bread, a small crew, and big plans.

We got the space, but we didn't know if we'd be here in ten years.

Here we are now, a decade later. We've doubled (Hey there, Mercer Island). A plethora of sandwiches have crossed the counter. Regulars became friends, kids grew up, crews changed, and we’ve made it through a global pandemic and some lean years.

We’re still here because of our team, and because of you. Our people.

We owe so much to every member of the Valhalla crew. The regulars who always add bacon. Everyone who told a friend...and those friends who told other friends. People with friends. Basically everyone who chose a small sandwich shop when they could have gone somewhere else.

Every sandwich, every visit, every recommendation helped get us here.

10 years. And we don’t take one of them for granted.

Thank you for giving this little sandwich shop a decade. You've warmed our cold, little, sandwich-loving hearts.

We hope you're still hungry.

Fuel Your Art Walk

For 30 years, the PhinneyWood Art Walk has brought our neighborhood together to celebrate the artists, makers, and small businesses that make this corner of Seattle what it is.

On Friday, August 14 (6–9pm) and Saturday, August 15 (12–5pm), Greenwood and Phinney Ridge come alive with local art, open doors, busy sidewalks, and people moving from one neighborhood business to the next.

And that matters.

Events like this give local artists a place to be seen, bring new people through the doors of independent businesses, and remind all of us what we have right here in our own neighborhood. So come out. Buy the art. Grab a drink. Eat somewhere local. Wander into a shop you haven't visited before. Spend a little money with the people who help make PhinneyWood worth showing up for.

While we won't be hosting artists this year, we're proud to be part of the neighborhood that makes weekends like this possible.

And if all that walking works up an appetite, stop by Valhalla and fuel up.
