Thank you to everyone who took the time to vote way back at the beginning of this summer!! Out of the ten categories we were nominated in this year we brought home 2 awards… Silver for best South Seattle restaurant and bronze for cheap eats ❤️🖤🤍 Thank you to The Seattle Times and our beautiful community for all of your support for these last 10 years 🥹😍🥰 it has truly been our pleasure!!

Pack the house was such a great experience this weekend at Emma’s BBQ!!! We had such wonderful time connecting with some old friends and seeing new faces❤️🖤🤍 thank you all for coming out!! The Seattle Medium , Urban League, and Byrd Barr we love and appreciate you🙌🏾🙏🏾🏆 special shout out to the woman who stopped in after she saw us in the paper, and left with not only a meal but some of our sauce shrink wrapped for her trip back home to Arkansas 🫶🏾 don’t forget to call when you need some shipped directly to your home😘

🍖 Emma's BBQ is a family business that spans over three generations, with recipes that have been passed down for over 100 years! They’ve shared their family’s love with the city of Seattle through smoked BBQ and home baked desserts — carefully prepped for hours and days at a time for 100% customer satisfaction!

🌟✊🏾🍽️ They are the 2nd featured restaurant of the "Pack The House" campaign, a 10-week community initiative presented by The Seattle Medium, Byrd Barr Place, and the Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle to encourage the community to intentionally support local Black-owned restaurants.🍽️✊🏾🌟

Emma’s BBQ was brought on by Lumen Field to become a vendor in 2021. After 3 years of being one of Lumen’s most desirable food destinations, their partnership came to an end — resulting in a near 65% loss in revenue at the time.

Now as they refocus their effort on their brick and mortar location in Rainier Valley, they are actively seeking to expand their customer base and maintain their family tradition.

As part of the “Pack of the House” campaign, the family recently sat down with Seattle Medium to discuss the past, present, and future of their restaurant.
