If you haven't read our newsletter, you might not know Floating Leaves' brick and mortar shop in Ballard will officially be closing by the end of the year. We are moving into a residential property near Burien (south of Seattle) to grow the online business and create more educational content as well as teach some in person classes.
We are immensely excited about this new chapter, as it's been something on both mine and Shiuwen's mind for years now. It's also a big change though; Shiuwen's son grew up in the shop, I met Shiuwen in this shop, and looking back on all the memories we've made with all of you over the years, moving away makes us feel sentimental. But we've been experiencing growing pains and pushing up against the boundaries of this little room in Ballard long enough that we really feel ready to make this move. We hope you celebrate it with us! We also plan to find different avenues for in-person events - the Spring Oolong tasting went so well this year that we are thinking to rent out a community center in Seattle once a quarter for this kind of event.
We will continue to keep normal business hours until the end of October, at which time we'll switch to a 'by appointment' model until the lease is up in the end of December.
Thank you for the many years of support of our little store here in Ballard. We look forward to how we can better serve the tea community in our new digs!
