Six years after opening our doors in San Juan Capistrano, we celebrated the ribbon cutting of our new expanded home, the historic 1880s Oyharzabal Barn. It was incredibly meaningful to mark the occasion surrounded by local ambassadors, community leaders, and many of the people who have supported us from the beginning.

More than 100 years old, the barn has been thoughtfully restored and repurposed, and this long-awaited expansion marks a new chapter for Heritage as we continue exploring the deep roots of California barbecue, live-fire cooking, and San Juan’s vaquero history.

Thank you to the San Juan Capistrano Chamber of Commerce and everyone who joined us for this special moment. We are so grateful to continue growing and building our future right here in the heart of San Juan Capistrano. ❤️

Join us Saturday, September 5th for the San Juan Capistrano Historical Society’s annual Heritage Barbecue fundraiser.

Our Heritage crew will be serving a barbecue dinner featuring our signature smoked tri-tip, chicken, and sausage as well two special side dishes.

Enjoy live music from Parker Smith & The Empty Saddles, with craft beer from Docent Brewing and wine from Native Hands available for purchase throughout the afternoon.

Tickets are $100 per person, including entry + Heritage Barbecue dinner, with sales supporting the Historical Society of SJC and its preservation efforts and educational programs

We know you’re excited about our newly restored historic Heritage Barbecue barn. We are too!

We’re putting the finishing touches on everything and will share an opening announcement with further details on reservations and booking as soon as we’re ready to welcome y’all in.

In the meantime, we are accepting inquiries for larger catering events and celebrations at our San Juan Capistrano restaurant. Please email [email protected] for any and all inquiries! 💌

Six chefs. Six years. One night. One historic barn.

A look back at this past Saturday night, which brought our community together to celebrate six years of Heritage Barbecue, and the debut of our newly restored historic barn.

Six chefs and pitmasters along with our Heritage crew worked side-by-side for more than five courses cooked over live fire and shared family-style with the people who have supported us along the way.

Thank you to everyone who cooked, poured, served, celebrated, and helped make this night one for the books.

Six years down. A new chapter of Heritage Barbecue is just getting started. Cheers to many more dinners to come! 🥂🧡
