We turned 25 this year, and we’re ready to celebrate! Join us on Sunday, October 18th, from 1-6 pm at Farm Fresh Rhode Island for a free gathering, featuring live music and art, a book swap, coffee tastings, a special cocktail menu, and other fun surprises! ⁠

A portion of the proceeds from our cafe and online sales that day will benefit Guatemalan Center of New England (which is located in our little Valley neighborhood!), and you can meet their team at the party, too.

Terroir is the idea that where a coffee is grown has a direct influence on how it tastes. Sometimes described as the “taste of place,” it includes factors like soil, climate, elevation, rainfall, and sunlight. Together, these growing conditions help shape the coffee’s natural characteristics and give beans from different regions their own distinct personality. It’s one reason coffees grown in different parts of the world can taste so different from one another, even before roasting comes into the picture. Much like w**e, coffee carries a little bit of its growing environment with it into the cup.

We’re often asked what the “flavor notes” on our coffee labels mean. You might see descriptors like chocolate, citrus, berry, caramel, or floral, but those aren’t added flavors or ingredients. ⁠

Flavor notes are simply a way to describe the tastes and aromas you might notice while drinking the coffee. Think of them the same way you might think about tasting notes on a bottle of w**e.⁠

A coffee described as having notes of dark chocolate and cherry doesn’t contain chocolate or cherries. Instead, those are some of the natural characteristics you may pick up in the cup. Those characteristics can be influenced by everything from the coffee’s variety and where it was grown to how it was processed, roasted, and brewed. And because everyone experiences taste a little differently, you may notice something slightly different from what’s written on the bag. ⁠

Saturday mornings are for Hope Street Farmers Market, and you’ll find New Harvest popping up outdoors at this local favorite market in Lippitt Park from 9am–1pm, every weekend through October 31st, alongside local farmers, food makers, artisans, and more.
