Starting December 1st and continuing through January, 10% of proceeds from Winter Drink Specials at White Electric Coffee Co-op will be donated to support DARE. Learn more about how to get involved and donate directly to help continue DARE’s longtime and impactful community work.

Thank you for your solidarity!

A word from DARE:
Direct Action for Rights & Equality (DARE), founded in 1986, is a Providence-based grassroots organization committed to building power with low-income communities and communities of color through direct action, organizing, and political education. As DARE approaches its 40th anniversary, the organization is launching a yearlong fundraising and events campaign throughout 2026 to celebrate four decades of community-led victories and to ensure the sustainability of its work in a time when grassroots and community-based organizations are increasingly under threat.

DARE’s organizing is carried through its core committees—the Men’s Group, Women’s Group, the Behind the Walls (BTW) committee, and the Tenant & Homeowners Association (THA)—which develops leadership among directly impacted people and drives campaigns such as Rent Stabilization in Providence and Bail on 32, the latter confronting draconian probation laws that violate due process rights.

In addition to these campaigns, DARE hosts numerous community forums and events that strengthen social bonds and mutual aid, including Back to School gatherings, Holiday Dinners, Juneteenth Celebrations and the annual Attica Memorial event. The organization also supports community resilience through emergency preparedness efforts that equip residents with resources, skills, and collective strategies for times of crisis.

As part of its 40th anniversary campaign, DARE is seeking monetary donations and launching a membership drive to help sustain its critical organizing in these challenging times. By supporting DARE through membership, contributions, or participation in upcoming 2025/ 2026 events- community members help ensure that grassroots leadership, tenant power, and directly impacted voices continue to shape a more just and equitable Rhode Island. From BP x QAW :

Binch Press / Q***r.Archive.Work is a non-profit archive, artist collective, cooperative print & publishing studio on occupied Narragansett land, in Providence, RI. The studio is a Q***r / Trans community space and library of zines, books, and objects, collectively operated by its dedicated membership. We collect and house an archive of printed matter by and for q***r / trans people, host events and workshops, produce collective publications, print propaganda, and offer access to printing and bookbinding equipment.

In early May, we were notified that the National Endowment for the Arts was abruptly withdrawing a $15,000 grant intended to support our studio. We are among many other organizations who received this notice, and while it did not come as a surprise, we are nonetheless devastated. For an organization as small as ours, $15,000 would have been transformative. We wrote this grant to support hiring our first paid staff position, and to onboard new members, which we have been unable to do in a year because of limited budget and capacity.

If you care about what we do, we hope you’ll consider supporting us with a donation. Our goal is to recoup this $15,000 through donations and fundraising events throughout the summer.

Come visit us this June for Open Library Hours on Sunday June 1st and June 15th, 12-3pm.
