Established in 2008, Cava is located in the heart of historic downtown Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and is just a brief walk from the Portsmouth Parking Garage. Quaint and picturesque, Commercial Alley is home to several small independent businesses. In the summertime our guests dine under New England's first native outdoor living wall. Featuring two wine bars, one on street level and one in our Wine Cave, Cava offers a diverse selection of fifty plus international wines poured by the glass. Our menu is an inspired modern interpretation of Spanish tapas using only the freshest quality ingredients to create innovative menus.

Meet the Staff Sunday - say hi to Mary!

Mary’s been with Cava for almost 4 years and is the newest member of our FOH.
Her go-to recs for guests? The gazpacho, chickpea fries, anything with muhammara, and any dry, acidic white w**e.
You can catch her grabbing a coffee at Kaffee Vonsolln on her way to work, or at Caffe Kilim on a day off.
Her perfect day off? A walk in the woods with her dog, a trip to the beach with her kids, a little shopping at wear house followed by ER reruns and a hot toddy before bed.

But Mary’s TRUE passion? Chatting! Come catch her and the rest of the awesome staff here at Cava

Hello, October 🍷

It may officially be fall, but our patio is open this weekend and we’re soaking up every bit of outdoor dining we can before things get too chilly. Not to mention, our vertical garden is all grown in and looking its absolute best right now Jeff Erson

Inside, we’re settling into the season with a glass of red and our new fall menu, with more cozy plates rolling out as the weeks go on.

Chef’s Counter is back 🔪 First set of dates we are taking reservations for are Oct 21, 22, 28 + 29. After that, dates will shift around the holidays, so keep checking back for availability.

Pull up to the Chef’s Counter for what we are a told is like “Dinner and a Show”. Watch and interact with Cava’s talented chefs as they prepare a special menu curated just for you, right in front of your eyes.
