Sofia (person)
/so·fi·a/
Definition: A rare kind of human. Selfless, hardworking, endlessly caring, and always looking out for everyone around her. A natural-born helper, a voice of reason, a big sister to many, and a friend to all. Known for her calm demeanor, her heart of gold, and operating on her own time zone (approximately 5–7 minutes late ALWAYS).
Nine years ago, when we moved into our new space, we always joked that Sofia came with the building. She worked for the business before us, and when we took over, she just kind of… came with it. Little did we know she would turn out to be one of the greatest gifts that came with our new home.
Over the last nine years, we’ve watched Sofia grow, work her way up, and prove herself time and time again. She’s become someone we trust wholeheartedly, someone who always has the best interest of The Food Shack and the people in it at heart. She’s calm, collected, gracious, and kind. The person everyone turns to when they need a helping hand, a little advice, or just someone to listen.
To our younger staff, she’s the big sister they didn’t know they needed. Someone to confide in, lean on, and occasionally complain to about their boss (me, obviously). And to anyone who’s spent time at The Food Shack over the years, chances are you know Sofia. She’s become just as much a part of this place as the walls that surround it.
Now, after nine wonderful years, our girl is off to North Carolina for her next chapter. As bittersweet as it is to say goodbye, we couldn’t be happier for her. Some people leave a mark on a place that doesn’t go away when they do, and Sofia is one of those people. We may have gotten Sofia with the building, but what we really got was a lifelong friend. And for that, we’ll always be grateful.
This Sunday 10/11 will be Sofia’s last day at The Food Shack! If you’ve had the pleasure of knowing her, working alongside her, or simply being greeted by her smiling face over the years, please stop by and help us give her the send-off she deserves. Let’s send her off with a whole lot of love!
We love you, Sofia. North Carolina is lucky to have you!!!💛🌊
