Musky Monday Minute for this week is not a fishing report but a reminder of how wonderful it is to fish with a friend, family, and/or a new fellow angler.

And there’s no better time than now to get on the water with the person or people you enjoy spending time with.

This past weekend Smokey’s was once again fortunate enough to have anglers from multiple communities, county’s, states, countries, and fishing clubs all enjoying the sport of fishing together 🙏🏼

Let’s continue to do more together than apart. Have fun, enjoy one another, the outdoors, the water, the sport of fishing …and FISH ON !

Ps: Water temps are in the low to mid 60’s. Love it…and LETS GO BREWERS!

MUSKY MONDAY MINUTE - SEPT 21 THROUGH 27 - 🍂 FALL IS REALLY STARTING TO SHOW UP! 🍂

September is moving along — and if you’ve been waiting for the fall musky transition, it’s happening NOW!

Many SE WI lakes are sitting around the mid to upper 60s, and the combination of cooler nights, shorter days and changing weather is beginning to change where muskies spend their time and how they feed.

🎯 THIS WEEK’S MUSKY GAME PLAN

1️⃣ START WITH THE WEEDS

If the w**ds are healthy and the bait is there…THE MUSKIES CAN BE THERE TOO!

💥 2️⃣ DON’T PUT THE TOPWATER AWAY!

This might be the week to bring the topwater back out in a BIG way.

Late September can produce some of the most exciting topwater opportunities of the season.

🌅 Early morning
🌆 Evening
☁️ Cloudy conditions
🌬️ Wind-blown shorelines
🌧️ Changing weather

And don’t be afraid to work that topwater over relatively shallow water near deeper access.

🐟 3️⃣ WATCH THE BAIT — NOT THE CALENDAR

The fall transition doesn’t happen everywhere at the same speed.

Instead of saying:

“It’s September, so the muskies should be here…” Ask: “WHERE IS THE FOOD?”

• Perch
• Bluegills
• Ciscoes/baitfish where present
• Shad-like forage
• Bait concentrated along w**d edges
• Bait pushed into a shoreline by wind

**FIND THE FOOD. FIND THE MUSKY.**

🌬️ 4️⃣ FISH THE WEATHER!

Cooler nights and changing temperatures are exactly the kind of conditions that can accelerate the fall transition.

A wind shift…
A cloudy afternoon…
A passing shower…
A falling barometer…
Can all change the attitude of a musky.

DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE WEATHER!

Sometimes the nastiest-looking hour of the day produces the fish you’ve been looking for all season.

🎣 THE LURE BOX THIS WEEK

💥 BUCKTAILS
Work them over healthy w**ds and along the edge. Experiment with speed before abandoning an area.

🐊 RUBBER
Start looking toward bigger profiles and deeper w**d edges as conditions allow.

🎯 GLIDERS & CRANKBAITS
Excellent choices when fish are relating to edges, rock and transition areas.

🌊 TOPWATER
If conditions are right, don’t hesitate to throw it.

🎣SUCKER
Lastly, Smokey’s has Suckers…soak-a-sucker while casting one or two of the ⬆️
