The Vampire Ball: House Rules

Wednesday 10.14, after sunset (8pm). You’ve been warned.

1. Dress like you died in style. Sweatpants are not a cause of death, they’re a lifestyle.

2. Fangs are optional, but recommended. Smile big, the photographer’s looking for you.

3. Dress up and we’ll hand you a free “blood tai” from 𝐓𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐀 𝐀𝐑𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄. Dress down and we’ll still serve you, but we’ll talk about you.

4. Best dressed wins a bottle of Arette Reposado Artesanal. Judging is fair, final, and slightly biased.

5. $1 raffle for bottles from our supplier partners. Any blood type is welcome. The lineup is a surprise, but we’ll just say it’s worth a dollar.

6. Every raffle dollar goes to BCFCF (Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida), so even if you lose, you won.

7. No garlic. We will find out.

8. DJs, cocktails, bad decisions with good taste. See you at The Moderne.

A majority of dishes at The Moderne have a thumbprint on them. His.

Meet Michael, the owner and the hands behind our kitchen here on Mills 50. He never wrote a menu to impress anybody. He wrote one that sounds like where he came from, then dared you to try it.

So we sat him down, turned the camera on, and asked him the questions you don’t get asked over a bar: Whose house had the best food growing up? What were you told about fitting in? Does your rebellious streak shape the plate?

This is His Fingerprint, a short series about the dishes, the stories, and the stubborn streak behind them. One question at a time.

Spooky season just took over the bar.

Six new cocktails just crawled onto the menu for Creatures & Curses, our October lineup of things that shouldn’t exist and taste incredible anyway. Jaws, fangs, scales, a tableside pour or two that might scare the table next to you.

We’re not saying it’s cursed. We’re not saying it isn’t.

New drinks, new chaos, all month long. Come get haunted responsibly.

Which rabbit are you tonight?

The Aztecs believed in four hundred divine rabbits, the Centzon Tōtōchtin, gods of pulque and drunkenness. Each one a different version of you by the end of the night.

Victor made it literal. One cocktail, four ways:

The Distinguished, bitter, composed, negroni bones
The Socialite, coffee, buzzy, never sits down
The Reserved, spicy, quiet, always watching
The Party, bright, loud, last to leave

The more rabbits you meet, the deeper into the night you’ve gone. So pick your rabbit and tell us in the comments. We already know some of you are the Party.
