Omaha has a bakery making a vegan and gluten-free version of a Runza. They cleverly call them Nunzas. It's also the only bakery in Omaha where you can grab a pop tart and drop off your food scraps in the same trip. Let's talk about Conscious Comforts ...

A lot of us had to give up on our fav comfort foods either because we went vegan or realized we had an allergy. That’s why Lauren Wright and Alexis Jensen started Conscious Comforts back in 2019 … to bring those people back into the fold of enjoying deep-dish pizza, pop tarts, french toast, and big, decadent cakes. But this time all 100% vegan and allergy-friendly.

We’re partnered with them to compost their pre-consumer food scraps. AND they are lovely enough to host a Drop-off Compost Club site at their home-base bakery for people that wanna compost food scraps from home. Which means you can grab a Nunza and drop off your scraps in the same trip (!!).

Here's where to find them:
* Every Sunday under the green tent at Aksarben Village's Omaha Farmers Market
* Pickup 4 days a week from their home base (2320 Keystone Dr)
* On the shelves at 14 retail partners across the metro
