It’s more than farm-fresh food and Philly Friday today, we have some INSANE desserts! 🤤

Grandma Bea’s Bakery made us a Caramel Apple Crumb Cake with a light, fluffy yellow-cake base topped with apples and caramel. We serve it warm with a scoop of ice cream and even more caramel drizzled over the top. It tastes exactly like fall. 🍎🍂

We also have Double-Layer Chocolate Explosion Cake, Double-Layer Peanut Butter Explosion Cake, Grandma Bea’s homemade pies, and Scottie’s Cheesecakes!

Our corned beef is roasted so perfectly that it’s ridiculously juicy and literally falls apart when we touch it. So instead of fighting it for pretty slices, we shred it giving us better portion control while keeping every bit of that tender, melt-in-your-mouth goodness.

And yes, quality control requires dangling it over your mouth like a baby bird for this treat of a taste test. 😂

As harvest preparation gets busier at Burnham’s, I’ve been missing days where I don’t have time post here. Naturally, my brain immediately goes, “Oh my, everyone is going to forget about us!” 😂 I worry about the restaurant when I’m not there. I worry that I’m falling behind or not doing enough.

But FOUR times in the last week, I’ve driven to Freight House feeling completely overwhelmed and behind, to find nearly every seat full. The restaurant is buzzing, my team is taking care of everyone, and it has made me shed tears of gratitude every single time.

Thank you to everyone who keeps choosing us, even when I miss a day reminding you about our specials. Thank you to the businesses that trust us with their weekly caterings and meetings. Thank you to my absolute dynamite team for holding everything down when harvest pulls me elsewhere.

Most of all, I thank God for the people He continues to send through our doors and for reminding me that I’m not carrying any of this alone. I am so incredibly grateful for all of you. Here are some of the plates we were so proud to serve this week❤️

The best way to prepare your stomach for our weekend breakfast buffet? A Philly Friday warm-up, obviously. 😂

Shelby and Kristen put me on to getting our Philly in a wrap, and Y’ALL. Same thin-sliced chuck eye, farmhouse peppers, Cheez Whiz and melty provolone, wrapped up and pressed on the grill until it’s golden and crispy. SO GOOD, I didn’t even stop to take a picture. And switching from a hoagie to a wrap costs nothing extra!

I’m sure you’ve noticed, but instead of simply asking for your Firelands Best votes, I thought I’d share a few stories from my last 15 months of running Freight House.

Tonight is about my second-favorite thing FHT has ever done. Helping others however and whenever I can is a deeply rooted mission of mine and it’s a quality I see in so many members of the Freight House team.

When SNAP benefits were interrupted last year, we gave away around 40 meals to local families. We didn’t have a big plan. We just knew people needed to be fed, we had food, and we made sure every family who reached out to us received a meal.

Of course, I’d love to win one, or all 😂, of these categories. But even if we don’t, this is the restaurant we’ll always be: one that feeds people, cares about its neighbors and steps in whenever we can.
