Happy Happy Happy Saturday to all my adorably delicious and badass little Pet Mia’s near and far. First and foremost GO KNICKS 🧡🧡💙💙. Not that anybody care but in my heart they already won for the most love, the most fun, the most humble and determined team with zero ego. Thank you for making it happen. Babycakes has to go to the gym so he is taste testing before I pull the meat and finish the magic.

I will start by saying that i am not sure about what we will serve today and that if you know this story please do not bother.

34 years ago to the day and the hour, i was dancing by the window in Lucky Strike on Grand Street, our usual Thursday night hang out even though by now it was Friday early morning. I noticed some young men in a ginormous white vintage convertible parking in front, they walked in. One of them was checking me out and, when i went to the bar, he asked me:
“excuse me miss where did you purchase your tan?”
“I beg your pardon? I just got back from Jamaica”
“Nice, did you smoke in Jamaica?”
“Yes, i smoked myself silly” i replied
“If you come to Save the Robot with me I’ll give you a joint”
And the rest is 34 years of uppy ups and downest downs, of thickest thick and very thinnest thin. Love, less love, fights, arguments, peace and making up. Surgeries, cancer, loss and victories. I wouldn’t want it any other way Babycakes, it was all so worth it.
Happy Anniversary I am such a lucky girl and what a trip!

Back to us. Yesterday i was cleaning strawberries and when I was done Katie | Watercolor Illustrator whom I had never met before, presented me with this watercolor or acquarello, that made my heart explode. You can see Kiki on the left, she saw him on my screensaver and added my little angel and Julio Pena is also there. How thoughtful and unexpected and lovely and what act of kindness that delighted Babycakes and I.
Thank you Katie, this was an elixir for my heart and soul and know you are so very loved, grazie my darling.

First and foremost GOOOOKNICKSSSS they are all honorary Petunias, unbeknownst to them, and they can do no wrong!

You know what else can do no wrong? This new pasta entry. Big shout out the amazing Italian region that is Calabria and where this little magical dish comes from. Fusilli al Ferretto with Nduja, so a little spicy, the best cherry tomatoes from Stoke’s at the farmers market, nice fried eggplants and fragrant basil. My tastebuds are still happy dancing…oh no sorry it was EW! That ndujaaaaaa yummm

Hello my little Petunias and super happy late spring Monday to one and all.

It is always a delicious Monday when we have artichokes, like today. Please swipe to see what I mean when I tell Babycakes to back off the guanciale 😂😂😂 but can we blame him?
Yesterday you ate almost all the strawberries so I cleaned whatever I had for today and come early.

Soft shell crabs are back and so are agretti and do not sleep on the delicious cutlet with melted mozzarella and marinated cold cherry and grape tomatoes.

Bitey Paccheri with naughty fried eggplants (sweetest baby eggplants I got in da Bronx), the eggplants are naughty because they always try to hide in the Paccheri, magical tomato basil sauce and topped with a dollop of ricotta. A very favorite!

Long as video my little petunias because the dog needs a treat and then Ricky was busy and I am a blonde, need I say more?
Super terrible Fettuccine fatte in casa ai frutti di mare, green garlic, ramps, ramps and more ramps, mussels and vongole on and off the shells, sweetest grape tomatoes from “Stoke’s” at the market and a touch of peperoncino calabrese. Could not stop eating!

Other ramps things because last week for these beauties and got a ton of organic Japanese scallion at Norwich Meadows this morning because “Cipollata”, soft shell crab, mussels and LOVE

It is not that i do not want to taste the gnocchi, I would LOVE to, just that I am busy fixing a few things and I need to get done.

But bank god for loveliest regulars who ordered them and are letting me taking a video. Here they are in all their Thursday gnocchiness: German Butterball potatoes gnocchi alla Gricia with caramelized ramps. This coming week is officially the last week for ramps at zee spot so please take advantage or wait until next year!

Looks like the goat ragú is edible and we are serving it with traditional fusilli al ferretto, a semolina and water pasta from the south of Italy shaped by twirling the dough around a little iron stick, much like a knitting needles
