Wow what an amazing collective of chef ambassadors across our state...very honored to help this group support North Carolina Seafood representing the Outer Banks!

Please help us give a warm welcome to Chef Mac Buben, one of our newest NC Catch Chef Ambassadors. He is the chef and owner of Sea Chef Dockside Kitchen in Nags Head, at the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center - representing NC Catch in the Outer Banks.

Mac comes from a restaurant family, where he learned from his James Beard award winning father, Chef Jeff Buben. Armed with his degree from the Culinary Institute of America, Mac worked in some of New York’s finest kitchens, including Le Bernardin, Restaurant Daniel, and Jean-Georges, as well as The Inn at Little Washington in the Virginia countryside. His fine-dining background instilled in him a deep respect for technique, high standards, and an elevated palate.

The Outer Banks beckoned Mac to return to North Carolina, and he came with a vision: to combine his culinary pedigree with his passion for life on the water. Along with his father, he founded Sea Chef Dockside Kitchen — a relaxed, chef-driven seafood shack overlooking the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center.

A core part of their mission is to support local commercial fishermen and promote North Carolina wild-caught seafood.
