For those who may not know the story behind our name, Stella is much more than our mascot. She is family — and she represents so much of what we want our little ice cream shop to stand for.

We rescued Stella when she was four years old after she had been dropped off at a kill shelter. Even after everything she had been through, she was the calmest, sweetest, most loving dog. It has always broken our hearts to think that after four years with a family, she suddenly found herself without one.

But Stella’s story didn’t end there.

She got a second chance.

When we opened our little mom-and-pop ice cream shop, naming it after Stella just felt right. After the beginning she had, we wanted her name to be connected to something happy — something that brought people together.

To us, Stella represents second chances, unconditional love, kindness, and the idea that sometimes the best parts of your story come after the hardest ones.

When you hear “Stella’s Homemade Ice Cream,” we hope you don’t just think about a scoop of ice cream. We hope you picture the beautiful German Shepherd behind the name — the sweet face on our logo, our mascot, and the dog who inspired it all.

We want Stella to be inseparable from our name. When you see that German Shepherd, we hope you think of a dog who was once left behind and somehow ended up with an entire ice cream shop named after her.

As Stella’s Homemade Ice Cream has grown into something our community has embraced more than we ever imagined, Stella has remained at the heart of it.

We always joke that Stella never has to worry about having another bad day again. She has a family who loves her, a community who knows her name, and somehow this sweet rescue dog became the face of an ice cream shop.

And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Here’s to second chances, happy endings, and the very best girl.
