The Murrells Inlet MarshWalk community recently said goodbye to someone whose impact will be felt for generations to come.

Charlie Campbell wasn't just the founder of Dead Dog Saloon and The Claw House—he was a dreamer, a builder, and a friend to so many. Through his vision and dedication, he helped create places where families gathered, friendships were formed, celebrations were shared, and memories were made along the waterfront he loved so dearly.

His generosity, leadership, and larger-than-life personality left a lasting mark on our community. Charlie believed in bringing people together, supporting those around him, and creating experiences that made people feel at home. Because of him, countless stories were written within the walls of the businesses he built.

As we mourn his loss, we also celebrate a life well lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Though Charlie may no longer be with us, the spirit of hospitality, friendship, and community he fostered will remain a part of Murrells Inlet forever.

We invite friends, family, and community members to join us in honoring and remembering Charlie.

Last week the MarshWalk Community lost Charlie Campbell, the founder of Dead Dog Saloon and The Claw House.

For so many years, Charlie poured his passion, generosity, and love of this community into creating a place where memories were made and where friends became family. His vision helped make Dead Dog more than just a restaurant. It became a gathering place filled with laughter, music, good food, and lasting friendships.

Over the span of decades, Charlie’s kindness, humor, and unwavering support touched countless lives. While his presence will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever be woven into the fabric of Dead Dog Saloon and the Murrells Inlet community he loved so much.

Charlie would want us to come together the way we always have, with stories, laughter, music, and gratitude for the many memories shared. We invite all who knew and loved Charlie to join us as we celebrate a remarkable life and the incredible legacy he leaves behind.
